The M99's weight needs to be lowered from 13 to 12. Since only the use on Scrake's, Flesh Pounder's, and maybe Husk's sees the weapon truly shine (further usage would not be realistic due to the weapons low ammo cap). Its also doubtful the penetration feature is going to be really abused or anything like that since the weapon only really does damage to the head and not the body, and lining up shoots takes time you usually don't have.
So realistically the weapon is just going to sit there in the shop most of the time instead of seeing any real action since there's no way you can use it in anything but a casual capacity, or of course also during patty time. If the weight was reduced to say 13 players could purchase a magnum or MK.23 to help deal with sirens or husks to take some strain off pistol consumption, thus making it realistic to regularly use and have fun with this weapon in a way I think would benefit the Killing Floor community in a much greater sense. I realize Killing Floor is "Tripwires game" and all that jazz but I really hate to see a good weapon make its shining debut only to have it collect dust and cobwebs instead of head shots like its intended purpose. please change the weight to 13 I really don't logically see how this would be an unbalanced move. m99 is a wonderful replacement for the crossbow specially sense the crossbows been nerfed so hard in piercing power believe it or not the crossbow used to have the same piercing power as m99 once upon a time. a weight reduction would be kinda nice so long as twi doesnt change anything else on itthey should also fix that one problem where it would show one shot left loaded even though you dont have any more ammo for it. also 9mm ammo will last so long as you balance your consumption of it with your m99.

If you run out of 9mm ammo you're doing it wrong.

With the 9mm's headshot bonuses provided by the sharpie, it actually proves to be pretty damned good against trash zeds. Not to mention, you should have your team looking after you if you're carting around that big ol' thing.

M99 weight should definitely stay where it is. You're sacrificing the ability to use a MK23/ .44 Magnum for the (substantial) extra damage against Scrakes and Fleshpounds. That alone is (hilariously)more than worth not having a second pistol.

I don't know about it collecting cobwebs. It's always been a very valid choice for me since it was a mod. On the other hand, allowing either a mk23 or a .44 to be carried with it wouldn't hurt, I think, but I don't think it's necessary either.

Allowing one extra pistol alongside it sounds good...
After and only after nerfing its speediness. The way it is right now, having it alongside a 9mm feels overpowered, considering how amazing it is within its intended purpose. Same could also be done for the LAW, allowing one pistol or machete+pipes, but that's another story. |

The weight IS 13.
This is just fine for a Sharp Shooter because the 9mm is awesome. If you really have a problem, have a friend buy a Magnum for you that he can drop when youre out of M99 ammo. YOu should really be complaining about the LAW weight. NOt only is it less useful than the m99, but the demo isnt NEARLY as good with the 9mm. THAT weapon needs to be 1 less block

I have pet names for some of my weapons. The name for my LAW is "Rosie" - I need one for my beloved M99. Any suggestions? Also, I think the weight is fine as is, perked 9mm is enough for smaller zeds.

Yeah, let's also make it semiauto, give a larger ammo pool and more power, it isn't overpowered enough.

Yeah, I really think that the LAW and the M99 AMR should weight 12 kg so you could pack a better sidearm. That would make those loadouts more viable. So far I have only seen a few lvl 6 sharshooters with the M99 and a few lvl 5 or 6 demolitions with the LAW. The M99 should only get this buff when and ONLY when the reload is a bit slower and the quick-switch problem is fixed. Also for the love of god, bring the xbow's reload time back to where it was, as it is now, it's like a semi-auto rifle!

Ah... The weight is actually not fine, because it is hard to find a good team of people to play with. New or crappy players usually die leaving me own my own. You tell me the right way to kill approx 10-17 Sirens, 15-25 Husks, 5-8 Scrakes 2-3 Flesh Pounders, and not to mention how many Gorefast's, Clot's, Crawlers, Stalkers, and bloats I need to kill by myself with 16 clips of 9mm ammo and 26 M99 rounds. There are a lot of new players at the moment which is obviously a good thing, don't try and tell me I'm saying that its not because you'd be putting words in my mouth.
I also prefer to play custom maps only (I hate stock maps there totally boring or generally a pain in the *** with bad/new players). It is incredibly difficult to find servers playing custom maps, so I end up having to play by myself (to get people on the server). Because of this I would enjoy being able to use the m99 as a change of pace to my usual load out, but this is not possible with the current weight it has. There's a reason behind M99's weight. It can kill scrakes with one shot even at hoe 6p with stun effect at bodyshot and just 2 headshot to take out a fleshpound. It is useful when playing with a good support team who can handle minor specimens, letting the sharpshooter focusing on bigger ones. So, the M99 is a extremely powerful weapon that must have an heavy drawback - which is the weight. It still remains an overpowered weapon, though.
It's simple, really, you want to be a good all-around sharpshooter? Use another weapon. It's the same as complaining about the LAW's weight. Also, decreasing M99's weight would make the xbow absolutely useless. Last edited by thresher3253; 07-08-2012 at 10:42 AM. |

Well... thats your problem. Not the weapons one.
KF is a teamplay based game. If you don't find the right team mates, don't use a gun, whiches only intention is to kill single high priority targets. Get a X-Bow, Mk23 and .44. You'll have plenty of pistol ammo and the X-Bow for bigger zeds. The LAW is the same idea. Just don't pick weapons that rely on teamplay. You wouldn't pick medic on a solo game and then complain about how useless he is. |

Topic about currently most overpowered weapon in the game
Suggestion to make it lighter Given reason: author of the topic somehow manages to run out of ammo for 9mm Yeah, that totally makes sense.

Yea, what vealck said pretty much.
9mm can decap anything lower than sirens with a single headshot. Sirens and husks do admittedly take like half a dozen or something. But Scrakes and FPs are killed SO EASILY with the M99, it's kinda only fair that the sharpshooter has SOMETHING that he can't take down with one hand tied behind his back. |

I believe it's a good enough weapon, considering if you are a Sharpshooter, you shouldn't have to worry with your 9mm practically being a Lever Action Rifle with all of it's perk benefits. I believe the L.A.W should be downgraded to a lower weight if you ask me, considering you don't get 9mm benefits at all.
You should also have a team helping you. You can easily use it good enough if a Support Specialist or any other class is by your side. If you have trouble using the 9mm as a Sharpshooter and lose the entire 7 magazines* easily, you should be practicing more on how to conserve* ammunition.
