This isn't a thread about what game mode is better or worse than another.
I am wondering, based on your personal tactics in the game, which game mode do you find the Hardest? At first I thought Action mode would be the easiest by default, but I've been playing Action on and off for the last couple of weeks and personally find Action Mode the hardest. The only reason why I feel it's the hardest is because of the amount of rounds I have to drive into my target before they drop. Being hit isn't a big deal for me as I usually keep in cover or out of site, thus Realism and Classic are about par in that department. But after playing a bit of Action for a while and then dropping into Realism and/or Classic, I find my ability to kill enemies and more of them at a time a hell of a lot easier than in Action. So what's the most difficult Game Mode for you?

IMO Classic is the most challenging for me the weapon sway and the slower aim down the sights (ADS). Also planning a route to the objectives is more of a challenge having to stop to rest behind cover on the way.
I only played action one time when I got shot in the head by a rifle and stopped to bandage and still lived then I logged lol.So I cant say much about action mode. On the flip side realism seems harder to stay alive due to lack of sway and everyone being more accurate. So its hard to say but I still think Classic is harder as it has more handicaps.

While I still find classic and Realism quite hard in their own ways, I genuinly find Action to be the hardest for me to play. In all my time playing RO2, I've goten used to people dying when I shoot them once or twice in the body / thighs, the reduced lethality in Action means someone can get lucky and pop me in the head / heart / nuts while they have three mosin-nagant rounds in their gut.
![]() Although hah, yesterday, I was having an aweful time shooting people in Classic on the ColdSteel map, the Russians seem to blend into the background! Last edited by Cwivey; 07-06-2012 at 09:35 AM. |

"Realism"
I normally play classic but when I'm forced to play realism (very few classic players in the early / afternoon hours) I find myself dieing a lot more. Probably because the shift zoom makes people a lot more accurate. Also, enemies are much faster sprinting and run out of stamina much later than in classic, they seem to take more shots and they can pop into ironsights in a milisecond after sprinting with the speed of light. And I can't talk about Action mode since I woudln't touch that thing with a 3 metre pole.

action mode is easy
just grab the 250 round MG34 and you'll find yourself destroying everyone within a 50m radius. Since action mode nerds the damage of all weapons, just grab the fastest firing, most damaging weapon and you'll rape.

I play classic, but sometimes I check out realism mode.
I find realism harder, probably because I'm not used to the faster run & gun gamestyle. I get killed easier in the beginning as I'm still in the classic rythm. I wonder if it's vice versa for realism players who play classic once. |

Classic, hands down.
The game is slower, more sway, no perks, no bandaging, no zoom (even though that's not realistic) etc. Its just less aids. But not only that: It's way harder to win. People have been talking about the maps not being 'designed' for Classic and therefore making it impossible for the Germans to win. I thought it was true. Until I ended up on a British server with people communicating, squad leader tactically using artillery in order to hold of the enemy, well-placed MGs and riflemen, players with SMG pushing the enemy back, aswell as players reporting if they see a tank - with AT-soldiers responding. On one map (can't remember the name though) there was six CAP's for us Germans to take. We took all of them and it all ended with the majority of Germans pushing so much we managed to get to the Mainspawn. The Russians ran out of reinforcements and some tried to hide while the rest were being spawn killed. Thing is: If there is no teamwork.... you're smoked, at least if you're playing as German. |

I find Action mode the hardest, I'm just too damn slow.

Can't really say myself. Now if you were to ask which mode was the most annoying, then Action wins hands down

The only slow weapon aim down sight is when you get out of a sprint... which you can do like a derp in 'realism mode' with an SMG and spam down any corner you turn without an issue and then instantly bandage up if the other player doesnt instakill you first (with say, a rifle requiring perfect aim or you die). Hate that garbage... or if im already aiming down sight with a pistol and some SMG sprints around a corner while im shooting and hitting him but I get sprayed down anyways and he instantly bandages up then keeps going. Gotta love that.

I have only played Action Mode once. When I did, I found it much easier than both Realism and Classic in terms of gameplay. While there is obviously more aids and less forgiving gameplay, the players ability to adapt to more fast paced gameplay but also the players previous experience with other generic shooters is obviously also a little bit important. I am quite used fast-paced oriented gameplay though since I quite often play these kind of games (far cry being one of my favorites).

Classic and Action mode as I cannot get my head around unrealistic ballistics.

'long range shots' (ingame long range, not rl) at moving targets are more difficult in realism imo, due to the faster player movement.
even with reduced zoom and increased sway in classic, i think it's slightly easier to pull off. beyond 200m it reverses, almost impossibru to spot/shoot even stationary players in classic (except for muzzle flashes), not a problem in realism. attacking in classic mode is definitely harder, because of lower stamina and speed. in conclusion classic seems to be the hardest mode overall, but realism has it's difficulties as well. action mode isn't hard at all imo, you sometimes need to pump lots of lead into the enemy to bring him down, but he has to as well. it's still fun if you want to play a few casual matches without thinking too much.

I'd say action just because it's off putting to need that much to kill in an RO game, but the fast pace doesn't bother me. Thank you CS
