Will a Intel Hexcore X5650 CPU do 64 players

I have just changed to a new server host and they claim their server has 2 x Intel Hexcore X5650 CPUs.

Will this do 64 players?

My last server has a Xeon E3-1270 and it ran 64 players perfectly. they went out of business because it ran so good.

From everything I've heard and experienced, it's the speed, not the number of cores. You want more GHZ. That x5650 is only 2.66 ghz, which while respectable isn't ideal. This game is single-threaded, meaning multiple cores wont do much for your performance. Find a server that offers 3 or more GHZ and you should be ok for 64 players.

Yes I thought that might be the case. Why the hell would gameservers.com offer it as a 64 player server I have no idea.

I am struggling to find a server host in Australia with a Xeon E3-1270 offering it shared. My last host did but they are out of business.

If anyone knows a host in Australia with good gear, please let me know.
