Default Performance suggestion for the next patch.

I d like to suggest an option in the graphics section for a sniper scope: less laggy option. Currently i have to lower graphics because the sniper scope performance is where the game fails for me. This is the weakest part of game performance.

Give us the option to have a simplier, fast rendered scope sights. Then ill be able to play on high graphics.

Arty strikes and blurring also reduce fps much.

Signed, options are always nice.

Speaking of options: I'd like an option to turn off dynamic shadows!

I agree. Using the scopes will cut my framerate down anywhere from 50% to 75%. On the bolt-action rifle scopes, I will drop from 60 FPS to 30 FPS, and on the semi-auto sniper rifles, it's even worse , getting as low as 15 FPS at times, which is strange since the scope render area is much smaller. Obviously, this makes hitting anyone almost impossible. I understand that is caused by rendering the scene twice when using the scopes, but for crying out loud, it's not like it's rendering the entire scene twice, only the small and highly magnified little area inside the scope glass. The frame rate shouldn't plunge by more than 50% because of this.

I understand the desire to preserve authenticity as much as possible, but I think we should at least be given the option for a scope rendering method that doesn't cause such a nosedive in performance. This almost seems to be a disadvantage to people with less-than-stellar hardware. I've got a system that can otherwise run this game perfectly at High settings but using the scopes makes the game unplayable. I can't imagine what a min-spec system has to suffer through for using the scopes; maybe those people don't use them at all for that matter.

May I suggest alternative methods that don't involve rendering the scene twice? Obviously, the classic blacked-out peripherals would cause no performance hit, but maybe it's too "unrealistic?"

Another method I like is the one implemented for the ACOG scope in CoD: MW3. Basically, the field of view of the entire scene is increased to the magnification level of the scope, so scene is rendered only once and there is no performance penalty.

yeah currently scopes are the biggest performance killer, and as you ve said in a nosedive manner: an otherwise working brilliant game becomes unplayable with scope. need a no performance destroying option.

I also have stable FPS above 60 yet often experience MG34, PPSH and AVT-40 stutter.

I think it's important to note, that other avatars that are firing an MG34, PPSH or AVT-40 do not cause the stutter, yet if I myself do it, then the stutter occurs.

I liked RO1's scope options, and I think they'd do well in pleasing everyone concerned. I would wager that getting rid of that infernally stupid 'lens warping' effect would do wonders for performance, too. Improve realism and performance at a single stroke? Dangerous territory here...

Yeah, they should try removing the warp effect. The ocular effect is nice, though.

agreed. the ocular effect should stay. that's how it is in real life. the "warped" edges are not. i'd love to see them get rid of the warp and see if performance improves. if not, i guess i'd vote for the blackout rather than the full screen zoom. i think that would kinda be an exploit, being able to zoom the whole area. either way, they need to fix it's performance. the binoculars suffer as well. since they don't have the "warp", i guess getting rid of it, probably wont make a difference to scopes or binos.

Ocular shadow could actually stand to be drastically increased, I think. It barely comes into the equation unless you deliberately jerk your aim about like a crack-addled gnat.

+1, my fps lowers into unusable territory when using scopes.

I'm not sure if video editing software works the same way as this, but rendering warped scenes in Avid takes a ton longer than regular scenes.

We should go with the old school way of doing it. Don't ever copy CoD's ACOGs. Our current Binoculars already do it the good old way, rendering the scene only once

Then we make it as an optional setting in video options.

Done
