I would hope for M40 field caps for the Axis on summer maps, like Apartments. The Commander has the best uniform of all, the cap gives a sense of command. But I wish there were forms of camouflage on certain soldiers with higher honor levels.

Officers didn't wear caps into battle. The "everyone wears a helmet on the frontline in combat" was a big deal back then for the Germans. When you were wearing a helmet, you meant business.

I've read of one account of a German Officer who refused to wear his helmet, no matter how much prodding his platoon sergeant prodded him to wear it. He actually ended up dying from shrapnel to the head not too much later on.

Aside from which, the caps aren't even done properly. They're missing the roundel and wreath underneath the Reichsadler.

It is beyond me how TWI managed to screw up even the most simple stuff like that. Ten seconds in Google. Ten seconds!

I know right? There is no execuse for inaccuracy like that in the uniforms, I mean this is RO2, it should be more accurate in uniforms than the first, not the same/worse(granted the models look tons better, and colors are toned better, but, aside from that).

You know, I'm also wondering why we don't see tank crews in winter uniforms on winter maps. Those things weren't heated...

I think its just a glitch, I haven't seen that happen often, only once or twice.

Oh man, I'm imagining the cartoon German officers with horribly deformed legs which would be required for this to make any sense.

Just no. The commander is the cap. The cap is the commander, they are one.

But come on! The Russians get caps, officer caps, and helmets. We axis get helmets and all look exactly the same. Give us a bit of diversity as well in this

yeah, agree

keep SOME variety.

otherwise axis would just look like this generic mob that you can't tell apart, I find the cap nice when I'm a sniper so I can tell who's the TL and who isn't

with allies it's a bit hard telling the SL and TLs apart but at least they look different.

Only thing I would fix is the metallic "tink" when you shoot a cloth cap.

thats the thing though. the german army pre 43 was neat and tidy and all looked the same. hence the classic "storm trooper" look, also they are in the army, armies are known for uniform looks...

saying that i too would like to see the m36-43 cap for Sls, just so its easier to find your Sl (or me i almost always play SL)

im sure once the modding community starts reeling out custom maps we'll also get custom unifoms, hell we could even get a uniform pack for an old map. i myself would love to see a zeltbahn wearing /ruskie sniper cape esque models.

You mean the ones TWI made, and even left in the game's files, but for some reason I cannot possibly begin to fathom, removed from actual gameplay? Those sniper models?

maybe they're trying to encourage modders to make a whitelisted mutator that enables them ~^.^~

I'm not a modder and it shouldn't take modders to add content back into the game that was apparently axed just before release with no explanation (at least, none that I've seen). Promo screens all the way up to release showed (what we assumed to be) hero snipers using those models, then the game comes out and hero snipers look no different to any other class. The models are still there, they are completed, they're rigged so far as I can tell... nothing needs to be done except simply enabling them.

It should not fall on the community to fix broken or arbitrarily cut features. Making excuses for bad development choices helps nobody.

That's the thing, though. You look at all the German soldiers in Stalingrad in combat and there's not much difference between a regular soldier and a Lieutenant other than the shoulderboards.

Now back at the barracks, on the move, etc. You can see the difference. Officers are wearing their field caps. Back at home they're wearing their excellent dress uniform with the tight officer boots, the parachute pants, etc.

Just wanted to point out that the eagle is the SS variant and not the army variant, and the reason the roundel is missing is probably because TWI was copying an SS cap and said that the Totenkopf was too much.

I pointed this out in the beta phase prior to release. Oh well.
