Time wasting is an art, one of the best at it was Fabien Barthez

Actually, from what I hear, Russian football tourists are leaving the biggest wads of cash — correction, were leaving. So while it is an economic disappointment, it's definitely good they won't have the high moral ground after proceeding to quarter finals

Let's face it, Smuda was onto something when he lashed out after the game with Russia when a journalist was probing him on why the result wasn't better: we're not Brasil, by a long shot. The 68th place in the FIFA ranking was no accident.
What they need to do, is create procedures, create the manpower. Basically, do something Germany did around 2000, iirc. Create a system of training new players from the ground up, in a quantitative and qualitative way. Then make sure the best ones progress to the national team, so we don't have to hunt around for naturalised Poles every time a major event comes around.
I see quite a lot of kids and teenagers training at the junior clubs. Maybe in some 8 to 10 years (again) we will have a really worthy team. In the mean time, these have to brush up a few aspects and maybe win a game here and there, but obviously can't expect to keep up with the big teams with big bucks.

The worst thing for me will be the fallout and the search for a scapegoat. Hate it when we have to go through this ritual time and again.

First thing you have to do is stop Germany from poaching your best players

That's exactly what I meant, husbert. These youth encouragement programs. We've since introduced this somewhat, with the Orlik programme, but I feel more needs to be done,

Can't wait for Holland vs Portugal. Hope the match is like the battle of Nuremberg in 2006.

Watched the first half of Portugal vs Holland, but switched to Germany vs Denmark during the 2nd half, when Holland went streetfight mode.

Well Ronaldo demolished Holland, and Germany outplayed Denmark who gave up a good fight.

We'll get some very interesting quarter finals no doubt, with atleast Portugal, Germany & Spain now securely in.

That's such bull**** that Navas' goal stands. He was offside and I'd hardly call that a "2nd movement"

imo only france can distrupt a spain vs portugal / italy vs Germany pair of semis. and the only chance of that is if they win their group and play very well against italy.

Hope Sepp Blatter and Platini enjoyed the show We are the only country trying to force through goal line technology after the mess of 2010. So this counts as little bit of justice, even though he was offside anyway

I really think offside ought not to count if the player runs back onside, turns around and still beats the defender to the ball :P

Can't believe the extra touch judge chap didn't see it - what is the point of those guys!?

Was he? The commentator said he was, but I hadn't noticed it and they showed the situation (the pass) only once.

Linesman can't spot a blatant offside (happened about three times to Ukraine's favour) and guy behind the goal can't spot the ball over the line. Two bad decisions make a right decision

Offside calls aren't as much fun to shout about as disallowed goals.

It matters not any way.England were were shiite in the first half and slightly less shiite in the second. Also maybe Rooney should lay off the pies a bit and then he could jump to head the ball occasionally. The fat Twat.

One of my fave skits of theirs. Two-one for Germs today, I reckon.

Rotten weather, again. It seems every time there is a game in Gdańsk, the weather is awful and when the game is elsewhere, the sky is clear and there's wonderful sunshine.
