he's talking about not popping peoples melons as they sit still and peek out windows. no leading needed. he;s just saying his mg34 is very innacurate. no one else seems to feel that way though. i wish we had the mutator that showed bullet his and trajectories to test this out. that was awesome!

I'm talking of people sitting in front of me like 10 meters with their head popping out and I have to shoot 1/4" below the head in order to score....
I tried removing RO2 engine file, verified cache couple of times and still 1 file is missing. starting to think that this one file is screwing things up, and to all thinking that I need to learn how to lead or what not else...LOL seriosly, look at the pics I posted shots are landing up to the right, I play all the weapons and I can notice when something is wrong.

Well, that's because the mg34 is sighted at 200m and your bullets will go above where your sights are actually pointed if you are firing at something closer than 200m. It doesn't really matter if you are aiming at the torso, the bullet is going to hit anyway, but it could be tricky if you are trying to land headshots especially at such ranges you are describing (10 m).

Oh, I remember you.
You're the guy who spent several minutes verbally abusing me because I accidentally sent a PPSh burst your way, and couldn't stop bragging about how you're so much better at the game than me and I'm just a stupid noob. I distinctly recall you silently quitting that game a few minutes before the round ended, when I still had considerably more points than you. Irrelevant to this thread? Perhaps, but your attitude might explain your MG problem. I've never had trouble with the MG 34, and your screenshots are of you shooting into a wall less than 10 metres in front of you with a weapon zeroed at 200 metres. Are you honestly surprised they are hitting an inch or two higher than where you're aiming? That is kind of the whole deal with realistic ballistics and sight adjustment. I would be very much more inclined to believe the problem is you don't know how to use the MG's sights, not that there is something mysteriously wrong with it when the bullets are going exactly where I would expect them to at that range. You should be shooting for centre of mass anyway.

Ok, I'm gonna put an end to this. The real reason is explained right here
Basically, in real life, if you shoot with a MG34 at something 5-10 meters away from you, the POI, point of impact, should be just a few inches bellow your sights. Because the bullet comes out of the barrel, and not the sights. Thing is, in RO2 the bullet comes out from the sights, just above them, in such a way, that if you want to shoot a helmet with a gun sighted for 100m, you will have to shoot, like he said, a 3/4 of an inch bellow the target. Now, about the bullet hitting sligthly to the right, it also has to do with that. But for targets out a distance, the MG34 in game is pretty accurate, and its external balistics end up matching the sights perfectly at 200m. Last edited by Sarkis.; 06-12-2012 at 09:30 PM. |

If you are shooting people at around 100m with a weapon sighted to 200, it will shoot high due to the bullet's parabolic flight path. Only at very close range (<25m) does the weapon shoot high ingame because of the virtual bullet's point of origin - beyond that it is all ballistics, and exactly what you would expect from a real weapon.
In either case, the problem lies with his understanding of the way guns work, and not with the gun itself.

Actually no, guns in RO2 don't work like in real life no. Shooting at 25m with gun sighted to 200 can happen to hit low or high, or just right on target. depends on the height of the sights in relation to the weapon, and other things

problem is I'm constantly following where the traces are landing and the further away you fire the problem is even worse....
Do I need to post 100 more screenies until this gets moved to Support or bug related problems? TWI the MG34 is messed up if it was zeroed at 200m then why when you shoot further away the problem is even greater.....

Are you running at some weird aspect ratio/resolution? (Although I doubt that would actually have much, if any, effect - as the ironsights are 3D, not 2D like the tank sights)

I fail to see any problem whatsoever with the MG34. Its is accurate as hell. You really should not judge it's accuracy shooting at closeup targets, it will always look strange. At far way targets it will put rounds precisely at 200m and much farther away
