Right now, a person's honor level is only an indication of how much time the have logged in the game.
It is absolutely meaningless. Honor system should be a measurement of K/D, Caps, TKs, Team Wins, MG reloads, etc. It should be very difficult to have a high honor. A meaningful honor system also allows for different types of play styles to be honored in different ways. Make the honor system mean something, instead of awarding points for time played, make it based on honorable performance. |

Ah I see you make a thread about it, ok.

It should also include a measurement of the right use of the different classes. Assults should be in caps, MG's should be massing kills and TL's should use arty right, etc. Also you should gain different 'honor' by winning on one side depending on the map. As one side is harder than the other in some cases. -Like Grain elevator as axis, its harder but not impossible. To difuse team stackers, the above^ should help but also in mid-round changing teams should effect your honor multiplier somehow depening on the circumstances. |

I just think that servers really aren't using any of the honor settings, that is all. Like joing a basic AA server for that game.

The idea of a meaningful honor system grows by itself. There are so many things that can contribute (or take away from) one's honor level. |

That one's honor level is more than the time they play already? I know, it looks like it takes other things into consideration right now, but it is impossible for one's honor level to go down, rendering it meaningless. |

I really don't understand what Moe meant, what I think it is: Is that server admins don't bother to use the minimum and maximum honor level options and a few other small options I believe.
Though that's not really what we are talking about here... On topic Considering how much things the current honor system is connected to other stuff. Keeping the current honor system and renaming it something else 'Combat experience' or something would probably be best. And adding this new system and calling it honor, rather as this actually would make sense. I remember a game which had similar system, only that it was a set of values you could gain by completing different tasks. The leveling was of course static, as you could never go down in level. Americas army was the name of the game. It featured the different army values and you gained points to each as you did stuff coresponding to that value. Remembered that game as you are suggesting something similar.
Spoiler!
Spoiler!
Though I would note that I wouldn't want the same system as in americas army. That system was abit broken and the game was unrealistic.. Last edited by Andrew Blake; 06-10-2012 at 01:56 PM. |

I never played America's Army, but there ya go.
To be truly meaningful, a score a 50% would not be cause for shame. |

I know it's not feasible, but having appointed 'spotters' who watch for players who are a cut above the rest for making into heroes would be really neat. Everyone can progress to veteran or maybe even highly decorated as normal - even a pretty bad solider would one day be a veteran with some idea of what they're doing - but heroes would then be something truly special.
Oh well, a man can dream
