So I log on today and find a long update. So great to see the new server browser!
So great to see so many people playing in multiple servers full of living, breathing people. I get into a server and discover I have to reset my custom keys. That is when it went down hill. I kept losing my custom key settings. At first I was confused, then I realized why. Since the very first Wolfenstein and Medal of Honor I have used the same set up: Keypad, for most things, then keys to the left of the keypad, (End, Page Up, Page Down etc, for sprint/focus, and chatting with team and enemy, etc.) But now if I try to assign the Page Up key, it cancels out what I had for keypad 3, because this new version of RO2 sees those keys as the SAME key! Ditto for Page Up key and keypad 9, End Key and keypad 1, Home key and Keypad 7. My hand was crushed playing high school football and I cannot use the standard keys and stretch all over the keyboard. There simply are not enough keys available on the keypad to handle everything needed, with leaning, reloading, etc, etc., not without using those keys between the number pad and the main keyboard. So I can no longer use the custom key settings I have used for every shooter since shooters were invented. I am stunned. I hope this is resolved, since there was no reason whatsoever to change this and it worked perfectly fine before this recent update. I was looking very forward to seeing how the game played after the new update, with my new video card and all. Ah well.

I hope i have understand what you mean,...
Did you tried to activate/deactivate the Numpad with the "Num ↓" key (upper left corner of the numpad) before doing your key bindings and while playing. If not, the 9 on Numpad is the same as "Page up" etc. Regards Culti Last edited by Cultivator; 06-03-2012 at 08:26 PM. |

Does it allow you to assign the keys and then shortly after, resets to default? If that's the case, then you need to have your config file folder in RO2 open, open up RO2, change your controls to what you want, then Alt-Tab back to your folder & assign your config file to "Read Only" in order to prevent your controls getting reset to default (a few members in the Steam forums have complained about their controls not saving) If the game just won't let you assign the keys in the first place and won't let you get to the above, then I am not sure what's going on. This is why I make backups of all my confg files like was said you can also mark them as read only.Sometimes like with the ROengine file it needs changing to be compatible with the current version.
By backing up confg files you can easily go back to the settings that worked for you.Like with the new ROengine file I just compared the two and added the current version numbers to my old file.
