Looks humorous at first, but when you recall that many people really have problems with downloading it isn't as fun. I dread to think about people who have problems and can't play and can't/won't go to forums to solve their issues and will simply stop playing altogether... That's it's pretty important to make the game as bugproof as possible before it will gain second life.
That was Valve testing something last night as we were working on the download problems.

Another update has just been started. I have to wait 1 1/2 hours again ... Why do we always have to download the complete game? I thought Steam has optimized the update process, so that only new files must be updated.

Update: Download has been finished. Then I made a file check. Steam reports that two files couldn't be validated. Now it tries to download the corrupt files, stuck at 19%... I give it up, listening to music now ...

So this means i have to update the beta manually?

How it works?

To clarify, there are 2 ways to run the beta. The "old" way (now obsolete), where you start the game called "Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad Beta." That's a separate game listed in your Steam library. This is the WRONG way to do it.

The 2nd / new way is to Opt in on "Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad" - by clicking properties, clicking on the Beta tab, and selecting Beta under the selection menu.

IF you have done the 2nd way, when the new patch goes live, you'll have to download less (if anything).

If you haven't done the 2nd way, and are just running Vanilla RO2, then you'll automatically start downloading a big patch when it goes live.

So no need to do a manual patch either way.

I'm just going to re-install the normal vanilla game from scratch once the new patch is live. Any ETA yet? :O

iirc the opt-in beta was for testing the beta updates on the vanilla game. the "real" beta might be used for testing the multiplayer campaign and stuff in the near future. i still have some space on my games partition, so i'll keep it for now.
