So we all know the maps are destructible, but my question is: how do the maps start off? In pristine condition or War-torn? Is this accurate? I guess I mean, had there been fighting in Stalingrad before the campaign in HoS?

Arty and Airpower have already concluded before a battle starts, and why many maps will be in a war-torn state.
Side Note:
I think Arty should only be called by the Commander ( not squad leader ), and should take about 2-3 minutes to arrive ( not 10 seconds ).

Simply have have random Arty like in RO.

Now, that we are on the subject of 'Map Conditions'.
I think it would be nice to have a feature that allows weather condition on each map ( clear, overcast, fog, rain, snow ), and may depend on month of year, but not limited to it.
As it stands now, a map will either be one of the above conditions.
Daniz in snow anyone...
Thoughts ?
Why not have historical style maps?
The cartography generally wasn't generally redone up on a day by day basis. And it certainly wouldn't have filtered down to the indvidual soldier as quickly. Positions and changes were drawn up on copies of maps made prior.
The basic street layouts remained the same albeit the buildings may have been reduced to rubble, their foundation outline was still there.

Or like this collector's map: Original German situational map of Stalingrad, dated 25 October 1942, marked to WFST op (H) (Wehrmacht-Fuehrungsstab Heer -- the Operational Staff of Army): http://collectrussia.com/DISPITEM.HTM?ITEM=24672http://collectrussia.com/DISPITEM.HTM?ITEM=24672http://collectrussia.com/DISPITEM.HTM?ITEM=24672http://collectrussia.com/DISPITEM.HTM?ITEM=24672
Just my thoughts.
