Default The Zoom system is CLUNKY.

I've said it again and again: Combining the sprint and the zoom key is way too clunky. You tap a movement key while zooming in and suddenly you become short sighted, put your gun down and go for a run. If you're prone, you even stand up from cover and DIE. It's unfun, unwieldy and unrealistic. To fix it, split zoom and sprint and let us zoom in any situation.

My main issue with zoom is exactly that the way its implemented it often acts against me rather than with me.

I'd still whine about zoom logically as I always wine, but it would be a lot more enjoyable for me if there were multiple options in how to control the zoom

You can bind a different key to zooming than the sprint key, but you need to do it manually in the ROInput.ini file: bind command ExclusiveFocus to a key of your choice. Next, deselect the 'sprint zoom' check box (or whatever it is called) in the options menu.

That being said, even with the above, the zoom implementation leaves room for improvement (ie being able to zoom while moving, etc... see other threads).

That's exactly the point. RO2's zoom system was made with very little thought put into it. Allowing zoom adjustments in any situation is a minor change that would do a load of good.

(Judging from some of your other "in-the-know" posts, I'll ask) did you not have enough planning sessions or testing time? Was it a time constraint or an oversight on your (TW's) part?

No, it's actually just common sense. If they had thought or even discussed the matter past "do we need a zoom system?" they would've come to the conclusion that combining zoom and sprint is a really bad idea. A lot of things weren't well thought out, which is why we have this beta in the first place. A number issues that are discussed and complained about were already pointed out before the preorder beta.

Speaking of clunky zoom, what up with the bizarro "zoom out" thing that makes it look like you're thrusting the rifle out in front of you?

You're holding shift before you go to ironsights in the classic mode its a bug. It could be nifty if your mouse speed was altered together with it, then you could use it to look zoomed out on purpose. But a simple button would always be preferred.
