And now for something completely different.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/42910/

4 player co-op, Diablo-style game with wizzzards. Mix and match spell elements in RT to create an array of spells that can destroy a lot of stuff, including your friends. Add in a liberal dose of fantasy satire and humor.

The best part? It's only $10 on Steam.

The 2nd best part? It unlocks Jan. 25.

If you're interested, do yourself a favor and go watch all their videos on Youtube. These guys have consistently put out hilarious trailers and videos, some of the best video game marketing I have ever seen.

A lot of people I've shown the game to have said "it looks fun, but what really wanted to make me play were the trailers."

I had not seen that video. I was waiting for some more details on the magic system, and it really looks like they've thought about how the elements can interact with the game world and each other in a fun way. I saw a wizard pull out a machine gun....I'm not even sure where that came from, but awesome.

Can't wait to get this installed.

Red Orchestra's very own Xancerman did the sounds for that game.

Good to know.

I'm worried about it

It’s a game designed to be played in co-op, where up to three fellow spell-slingers are at the ready to heal you when you accidentally set yourself on fire. It works the other way too: as the screen fizzes with deadly sorcery, tagging your allies with the occasional meteorite shower is an inevitability. The beta netcode proved too unstable to support the four-player maximum (many hours were spent looking at inexplicably empty server browsers, crashing to desktop, or watching play stutter to a PC-killing stasis), but even with two players, the action was lethally chaotic.

Co-op is that what I'm looking for in this game, I hope they fix that in final version.

Friend of mine have found this

So here's the deal. The Steam version of the game is ready and shipped (steam will activate it on the 25th or 26th).

The non-steam version is not ready yet, we still have a few network issues to resolve.

I won't get into the technical stuff too much but the steam version uses steamworks (game browser , LAN, and direct IP) and the non-steam has another solution for online play (which supports LAN and direct IP).

We decided we didn't want to release the non-steam unless it was as stable as the steam version). We don't think it's fair to you guys to start selling a game unless the online play works fine.

So we offered our partners a choice, wait for the non-steam version (no ETA atm) or take the steam version. Most opted for the latter since that'd mean they'd can be a part of the release.

We'll get back to you as soon as we can with more info. But this week is steam week if you want to play Magicka.

I know this will piss some people off, I'd be pissed too. But I know that a lot more people would be pissed if there was no release at all.

Regards,

That should make it clear. Anyway 20 hours to go!

I've bought the game and I must to say game in 4 player coop is very funny and full of chaos at beginning :). I spent with friends great evening yesterday, however desyncs and crashgames are ruining overall picture of the game. Today we even couldn't play 10 minutes w/o game crash.

Hopefully new patch which is coming will fix that...
