Default Black screen on startup

Wanted to play RO for my first time but after I start the game and see the splash art, my screen goes black. But I can still hear music in the background. There's no way to end the game and get my screen back without a restarting my computer.

Os - Windows 7
Processor - Intel (R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80 GHz
RAM - 12 GB
Graphics - ATI Radeon HD 4800
Direct X - 11
Hard Drive - 447 GB free space

I had the EXACT same problem as you. id launch game, get a block screen, and i cant terminate the program even throu task manager, and my screen stays black, so i have to force restart.

after 5 weeks and no help form the community basically, i finally messed around with it enough to figure out my problem, maby its yours too.

if you have nod32 security its the antivirus/fw blocking the game. you have to manually allow it to change this program and allow thru the fw. the best way i found out is FORCE THE GAME INTO SMALLEST WINDOWED MODE POSSIBLE, and when it launches, your fw/antivirus SHOULD display the window to ask you to allow/disallow the ro2.exe application. obviously hit allow and "remember".

let me know if it works

ps: the 4k series is not dx11. its dx10.1, nor is this game dx10 or 11, its dx9 only. and with an i7 cpu. get a better GPU man, the 4k are old. GET THEN NEW 7K!!! > RAHHH!!!!! AWSOME!!!

Hi I am having the same problem as OP. Windows 7 as OS & launching through Steam but black screen w/ sound. I don't know how force a box screen on start up. So I tried to go through add an exception onto my antiviruses (AVG) exceptions list. I tried to add the red orchestra .exe and looking for the nod32 file mentioned but to no avail. Thanks for any help.

P.S: I did update my AMD Radeon 6000 drivers but didn't help.

Default Fix

YOU TURN OFF FIRE WALL WHEN YOU PLAY, AND ON WHEN DONE.
