wait so is it a commando weapon or firebug? either way, both of those classes are my only ones not leveled besides support(which is close), so i'm excited to start using the thompson

Most likely a firebug. They held a vote to see which people would prefer, and it currently stands at like 64:38 in favour of bugs.

If it ends up being a firebug weapon, would it have the same mechanic as the MAC-10, where it sets targets on fire?

I dunno... I've fired a mountain of .45 ACP over the years, most from barrels half as long as the Thompson, and haven't witnessed anything quite so pronounced. On the other hand, I wasn't zipping through it at 450~600 rounds-per-minute, either. Every now and then, yes, but mostly at a much more modest rate.

Looks like a hard-hitter, but who really knows what difficulty the video represents? (OK, obviously IJC knows, but I'm assuming they're remaining silent. No doubt wisely following the advice of their lawyers.)

it could be the ammo they are using, maybe they using different powder (45acp +p+?)

Definitely looking forward to playing with this... and for other stuff to come out as well.

The Chicago Typewriter should definitely be for the firebug perk and the muzzle flash, like others mentioned, really needs to be toned down a bit.
