there are still issues sometimes with this as it will download work ok for a while then suddenly start re- downloading everytime you join
Some have solved this by phsycally downloading the map and installing it |

This has something to do with the cache deleting.
The cache is at /mydocuments/mygames/redochestra/rogae/cache It is where the custom maps that are automatically downloaded from a server are stored. There are setting in the ROEngine.ini that control when the cache is deleted however I am uncertain if this is working. I have my 'delete cache' setting to once evey 365 days, however I keep losing custom maps. StaleCacheDays=356 MaxStaleCacheSize=1000 MaxOverallCacheSize=3000 Is anyone else experiencing constant cache deleting while having the StaleCacheDays set to a high number? |

I setted value to 0 and have no problems at all

I might try that also. Maybe setting it to 0 means it wont delete anything at all.

I set to 0 yet it still deletes the cache maps. I am going to write protect the buggers and see if it likes that.

Look in the cache folder and you will see a few files named like this, with a long string of letters, each of these strings is the map or mod file, but they have to be RENAMED.
To find the correct names open the file called cache, in there you will see an exact copies of the long names, except this time they will have the mod or map name at the end eg: 94E3FE5D46EA91BB07247680F1A7EB4A.uxx If you open the file in there that called cache you will see this = 94E3FE5D46EA91BB07247680F1A7EB4A=TankTweak RENAME the first file (.uxx) to whatever the match is in the cache file So 94E3FE5D46EA91BB07247680F1A7EB4A.uxx must be renamed to TankTweak.u Its important to remember that you must change the file extension as well to match the correct type of file it is eg: So .uxx becomes one of these depending on the type of file it is .u is a mutator .upk is part of the map/mod package. .roe is a map So this: 94E3FE5D46EA91BB07247680F1A7EB4A.uxx Becomes this: TankTweak.u or this: AC4E83C64B58FA85730BAE9EC82B09DA.uxx becomes this: TE-Ogledow_B9.roe The renamed files must then be put in the correct folders in the game. .roe to the maps folder (in its own correctly named NEW folder without the extension eg: TE-Ogledow_B9) .u to the cookedpc folder .upk to the cookedpc folder

So you reckon the renaming will do the trick. I will try it out and report back.
Very strange that I have to do that yet most people's cache can be adjusted to only purge once a year or never. Not a major hassle i guess given there isn't that many new maps coming out. Would have thought there would have been a hell of a lot more given the SDK has been out a while. |

Lol I didnt read the last part where you have to then set up a new folder in the steam folders with the corresponding name etc that is a total pain in the bum and so not worth it.
There needs to be a way to is noob friendly otherwise no one will play custom maps. |
