If you could get a bit more ram I think it would help somewhat, (I've seen your other thread).
And try the NewFileSystem beta if you have not already..Good Luck

Well, of course you were going to get graphic jolts with precache off, because you are loading everything on the fly instead of having longer load times in the beginnning. It is a compromise solution in order to load the map/game faster.

I also read that you changed something (don't remember what, you should have put all this in the same other thread for easy reference), and it ran much better for a while.

Did you change anything? Do you have any background programs running? Was it running great, and then just started running slow? If we are able to help you, we will need details, not generalizations.

Good Luck

How much RAM do you have? If you have anywhere below 1GB, adding some is probably the most effective, no hassle solution to your long load times. What did you change after you changed the cache size to match your RAM? If it's giving you problems, change it back. Try the BetaFile System, it might help you. But above all, make sure you get more RAM in there; it's quick, it's easy, and worth it!

I don't see the point adding more ram to make it a gig when the game runs perfect then when you load it up again it runs crap, i just loaded it up now and i couldnt even get into the game it just crashed, and 40 mins earlyier i was playing with every thing turned up perfectly, this is realy starting to piss me off all i want to do is play the game

What did you do the first time to get it to work good, then what happened, if anything, that caused it to 'flake' out on you? Need more details to be able to help...
