Default Company of Heroes

This game is shaping up and looking like a pretty good WWII RTS. All terrain is destructible (if you have the right weapon) and infantry units use tactical movements. Graphics look fantastic even in these low resolution videos:

Here's the gamespy preview:

It's probably not going to be completely realistic, but it's been awhile since a decent WWII RTS has come out. Word is it'll be out September of 2006, but that's tenative of course.

Infantry shooting tanks with rifles is a turnoff in for me.
Still might buy it tho.
Yarrrr.

It looks like it had potential but i probably won't be buying it.

A close combat style game made with the engine i'd kill for though.

The rifle fire on the tank didn't seem like it was doing any damage at all. The infantry was using (ineffective) cover fire to retreat from the Tiger. In any case, I know I for one would be taking potshots before I ran if I saw a giant tank less than 10 feet away and had nothing to take it out with.

You have more of a chance to escape by not shooting the damn tank
Edit:And besides, the thing that is worrying me is if they are actually DAMAGING it while shooting at it,
like in WarHammer or Codename:Panzers...
Either its knocked out or not, theres no "health draining"...

Thumbs down

Well, I just got finished playing the Beta of this game. I gotta say, I'm really disapointed. It's like Sudden Strike, but with a little bit more depth. I was expecting much more from it, but oh well, not the first time I've been let down...

It's an old RTS game by CDV and Fireglow so it was first released in Europe, but it was then released to the rest of the world. In my opinion, it's one of the best WWII RTS games I've ever played. I prefer the style of the graphics over the standard 3D.

Follow up question... how can you have played and like sudden strike? I heard it was huge in Europe, so maybe it's just a case of you guys having better drugs on that side of the world...

Sudden strike doesn't deserve to be even shelved in the same aisle as games like close combat or combat mission.

Anyway, if you liked sudden strike you'll probably like company of heroes. It's basically the same game with a few new and slightly more realistic features added to it. To sum the game up, it's an "arcade-action WWII RTS".

Now I know that Sudden Strike isn't like Close Combat or Combat Mission, but how are they the same, at least in Sudden Strike the infantry closely resembled people. In CoH they look like GI Joes or something

I saw this game a while ago and immediately realized it was going to be another arcadey piece of crap like blitzkrieg 2 or whatever. Destructable enviroments and fancy graphics are nice but the gameplay is horrible, I'd rather drink a glass of cyanide.
