I was keeping eye on Xenonauts for a very long time. I liked original X-Com a lot, but wanted to play a modernized game that would look decent on FullHD screen.
XCOM being made by 2K doesn't offer anything like UFO Unknown/UFO Defense and feels like dumbed console game, but Xenonauts - I bought it after playing demo. Game feels like original X-Com and if UFO defense would be released today, it would look like Xenonauts. Game has a great potential as a real remake of X-Com. I also very like graphic design and music. GUI and some other elements need to be improved, but overall as very early alpha I like it! Also I'd like to see some more elements implemented from Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 game, like suppression (being developed by Goldhawk), weapon attachment system etc. |

One thing I disliked was the sheer amount of air combat. I get that it's a mini-game and not the focus, but then why do I spend about 75% of the time in game doing it??
I hope there's a way to turn off that aspect of the game entirely. It looks nice, and is a cool concept, but it's just mind numbingly repetitive. |

It reminds a lot that minigame from original X-Com, however more advanced. In UFO defense you usually used one option: destroy UFO. Here I'm glad that we have more useful options, but it needs tweaks. 75%? Really? ps. small update Quote:

Ya I'd probably have 20-30 dogfights between ground combat missions in the demo. No exaggeration.

btw I found this: ![]() ![]() ![]() You can unlock those with this. I hope mod community makes more modern weapons. I'd like to see SA80, AK-74 (AK-100 series later) etc. |
