Every time you hipfire your weapon, you should lose honor points and points for your weapon, as it's only something an untrained person would do.
Thoughts? |

Isn't it a bit too drastic maybe?
Smg hipfire wasn't so unusual, maybe bolt action hipfire could result in harm to the hand, due to badly absorbed recoil, but not really sure about this (not gonna try with my rifles at home, anyway ) Anyway, hipfiring with a boltaction, at least in my exp, rarely lands a hit, plus, you only have 1 shot, especially if the other one takes its time and aim, or charge to you with bayo. If you are talking about mg hipfire, then, it's another story. Be more specific in case

It would be more drastic with MG's.
For example, after this video, Red Orchestra 2 Heroes of Stalingrad MG-34 gameplay - YouTube This guy could lose like 10 honor levels and 20 levels off of his MG34. |

This guy is very probably cheating, a lot. He's probably invisible, and also the lights seems modified to me, the walls are way too black, russian can easily be spotted... and in general, he's too damn good. Nobody ever tries to shoot him, not even once.
Honestly, I can't understand how such people can have fun, in games or in life. And about honor lvl... they should have 0, period. |

I still say instead of hipfire, the default position should have been the weapon shouldered and being pointed, but not looking down the sights.
A terrible idea. It was a tactic used back then, trained and untrained alike. Last edited by Esh325; 02-08-2012 at 08:38 PM. |

Hipfire is good, New players over-use it, not hitting much, and more experienced players use it properly. Being able to get easy 1 Shot Bolt action at short ranges, as well as with other weapons half accurately. This allows the Community to represent the initial training of the men in Stalingrad, as some players instantly pick it up and can play the game well

This idea staggers me with it's stupidity. Seriously, I am at a loss for words as to what to say.

Hipfiring your weapon is trained in the army. It is not only for untrained persons it actually requires some training. but try it out yourself and try to aim your weapon from the hip on a random thing and most likely you will aim pretty close to it. |

You do realize a real 34 was manageable from the hip in short bursts right?
It was also not uncommon for them to shoot it off the ammo guy's shoulder.. http://www.youtube.com/embed/B57dW3A-DT0 EDIT: youtube video of a mg42 from the hip... which is much less manageable than a 34 due to much higher ROF Last edited by wigdigster; 02-11-2012 at 12:47 AM. |

The problem is not that players can jog and hipfire the MGs but that you can jog and hipfire.

Look... one thing is being able to shoot a weapons from the hip without falling, and another thing is to be deadly accurate with it (every burst a kill like the video before, IF he was not cheating)
In the video, btw, it just demonstrates that a person (a bit overweigh compared to farmers sons who had a poor existence and nourishment in their life imo) could withstand the recoil of an automatic weapon IF in a proper stand, and not running around. Try to shoot it while keeping one foot raised at mid air and we'll see. Also, in the video you cannot see any target being hit, which lets a lot of talk open about accuracy while firing from the hip with an mg. Also, if you take time to notice, when he grabs the bipod, it costanlty get back, trying to reach its folded state. This is terribly bad for accuracy imo, because you don't have 2 fixed firm points that are needed to aim the weapon with ease and comfort (not to mention the whole weigh and recoil are on the other hand) try to just hold a long stick at only one extremity while trying to point the other end mid air accuratey at something for... 2-3 seconds. Now try a heavier one, like an iron stick long 1,5 mt. Now grab it with two hands letting a 50 cm distance from one to another. See the difference? As other already mentioned, firing smg from the hip isn't (and wasn't) that unusual, it just less accurate that aiming down the barrel. Last edited by Lone Rebel; 02-11-2012 at 06:31 AM. |

We could have NPC officers at the Russian side stalking each and every player screaming ''No hipfiring! Hipfire's will be be shot!'' and then kill the player if he or she hipfire.
