Default Lobbies/Matchmaking

I think Killing Floor could profit greatly from some kind of lobby system. I bought the game on release and easily got my moneys worth in short order. Regardless, this is exactly the reason I quit and was immediately reminded of it when I returned. When you first jump into Killing Floor you're met with a game that's already at its 6th or 7th wave if you're lucky. From there: you're virtually useless and once the game ends; most if not all people leave. You're stuck looking for a new game, and the same cycle will repeat.

I realize the negative connotations regarding matchmaking in the PC world but there's some games that absolutely necessitate it. Valve recognized this with L4D. Though it has its downsides you can easily negate that by providing the systems you already have in place, just provide some sort of lobby system for those who simply want to jump into a fresh game before the first wave starts.

Surely your skilled programmers at Tripwire could incorporate a system to connect lobby groups to empty third party servers(based on reliability and latency), some of which might even be rewarded with ad revenue for their exceptionally quality servers. Though it might be a little late to incorporate a very robust system(BS, never too late) to connect lobby groups to third party servers such as I've described; I feel it would have improved my Killing Floor experience by quite a bit.

You can sort-of avoid the problem of joining people at later waves. When you click a server, you can see the players in the game and their respective scores.

If you are trying to avoid joining servers that are already midway (or further) into their session, don't join a server where players have high scores.

The lower their scores, the lower wave they are on, etc.
I can't seem to find a static range of numbers that correlate to a specific wave, but use your judgement. It's all relative.

Just an idea.
