Default Need SkyBox help!

I have been having trouble creating skyboxes. I have looked at the unreal wiki and a bunch of other tutorials, but i still cant get it right. I know how to set up the the skyzone and get it to display, but i cant figure out how to get rid of the top squeeze of textures. Tried the Skypatch but that didnt work well. What am i doing wrong? how to i create a seemless sky?

Edit: Im using the hemisphere static mesh

-Should i apply a plane of alpha clouds to the top?

-Or am i going about this in the wrong way?

Sounds like you're almost all the way there.

The best way to sanity check how you're doing is to look at the existing maps. Take a look at any of the official maps to see how we get rid of the texture lines at the top of the skydome.

If that doesn't help, let me know.

I didnt spend much time researching but I was wondering about this as well. Is there supposed to be a set of 5 textures that make up the sides?

Its a static mesh dome in a separate subtracted cube. To make things easy, open an official map, copy the subtraction brush with everything inside of it, and paste it into your level. voila, new skybox

Thx for your quick replies, I took FlashPanHunters advice and prefabed a couple official map skyboxes. (Talk about saving some time) Now i can work more on the ground rather then the sky.

That's the way to do it, why reinvent the wheel, when there are so many kick-*** skyboxes available from Tripwire

Hello. I did this and I get my skybox, but theres no light coming from it it seems. The ground area is very dark, black really. How do I get a nice lighting effect? Like sunlight coming down at a certain angle?

Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry figured it out. It's been awhile since I've used unrealed heh.
