Default Artillery Spotting Bugs

I've tried and tried to spot as SL but have given up. It's not worth the effort:

- Range and direction are not enough to spot. You've got to have direct line of sight. You've got to stand up, stand still, aim at the enemy, oh wait... you got killed. Try again.

- Window panes and other small nearby objects will block your spotting icon and mark YOU as the target.

- The target icon itself will block target icons. Again, keep pressing the fire key while using binoculars to make yourself the target.

- SL marked targets do not appear on the SL's map. He can't tell where the mark went using the map, or if it marked the window pane in front of him that he was looking through.

- Half of the time the binocs mark some invisible object between you and the target.

- To add to the confusion, there is a similar feature in the Command rosette to mark artillery coordinates. However, it does not show where the mark is, nor does it show up on the SL's map. It does seem to be better as far as not marking invisible things between you and the target.

As TL:

- Can't choose between TL spotted coordinates and SL spotted coordinates. Should be able to click and select which mushroom cloud you prefer. Currently you can click, but you can't select. Pull the trigger and who knows where it will land.

- There is no feature to erase, reject or deny bad SL coordinates.

- There is no feature to cancel your own coordinates. Like when you'd rather use the SL's coords or when you accidentally targeted your Skoda.

- I have yet to see more than two arty coords, even with four SLs. They should be marked 1, 2, 3 or 4 on top of their corresponding mushroom cloud icons, or no number for TL's own mushroom cloud.

I find it frustrating too. Pretty much everything you said.

I have never been able to call in artillery on co-ordinates my SL have requested, even when I have not selected any co-ordinates myself.

In fact the whole process on targeting needs refining, the OP has a valid point on the selecting of targets, I had fallen back to using the aiming reticule, (can't remember what is its original key binding because I remapped my keys) the one where you press a key and you get a gold moving reticule, right click sets artillery, left click sets a move point for troops, but it is very erratic often stopping on some invisible wall and refusing to go further, it becomes so fiddly you end up exposing yourself to incoming fire just to line up.

But it is very hit and miss and often quite confusing where your reticule is aiming, and often getting you killed in the process

in pavlov's house, right outside the russian spawn, if you try to spot artillery over and beyond the barb wire barrior, it will appear to work properly, but in reality the artillery will spot on top of the barb wire barrior.

Bumping...

I Could add to second quote that on some servers SL marks appear to SLs map, but on most servers not appearing.

These bugs been since launch for me (I bet for everybody been since launch), starting to feel frustated.

If you are commander and one of your SL spots, you can only cancel your own targets to use theirs.

Why can you not select the target you want by clicking on it on the map?

Instead it just disapeers when you click.

Also in Commisars house this map seems to hate artillery I have to click about 10 times in a general area to get one spot that is not invalid as a target.

Also on this map sometimes the target is accepted and the arty will fire one salvo and then the invalid target warning will come up and no more slavos will fire. Sometimes they are accepted and no arty falls and I have to wait 3 minutes for the next to be ready.

The arty errors on Commisars house happen 99% of the time, i say 99% and not 100% because i get a few arty salvos off in this map every now and then.
