![]() "An army marches on its stomach" - Someone important History The 29. Feldküchen-Regiment 'Erbswurst' was formed in 1936 in Efurt, Wehrkreis IX along with the rest of the 29. Infanterie-Division with which it was to serve. This regiment in particular takes its name from a popular form of pea soup which has fed the German army since the days of the Kaiserreich. It was present in Polish and French campaigns as well as Operation Barbarossa. In August of 1942 it was attached to the 4. Panzerarmee and participated in the Stalingrad offensive. Even when supply was cut off, the brave men of the Feldküche provided the sustenance that the trapped Sixth Army desperately needed in order to continue fighting until it was destroyed in January 1943 - fighting to the last scrap potato and stale bread. ![]() Above Left: Men of Feldkoch-Abteilung 186 pose by their Gulaschkanone. The resolve of these men to prepare fresh, hot meals to hungry soldiers was said to be "harder than Knackebrot." They are equipped with quality German ladles which permit soup to be served with Teutonic efficiency. Above Right: An Übergewichtiger (center) wielding an MP28 which he has yet to eat finds for himself bread prepared by the Bäckerei-Kompanie. The chef (right) nervously wonders if he may be next. ![]() Above Left: Even marksman heroes with the semblance of Vladimir Putin need meals! German Feldkochs serve Pichelsteiner Gemuesetopf to the hungry Landsers near Spartanovka, August 1942. Above Right: The regiment on the move! Gulaschkanonen are hauled by horses toward enemy lines. Although there existed motorized (and even armored!) Feldküchen units, equipment was primarily horse drawn. Furthermore, the accompanying soldiers pictured are not only second-rate shots with the rifle, but they are also accomplished chefs. Our Unit We portray the Chefs and Cooks of the 29. Feldküchen-Regiment 'Erbswurst'. Our interest lies not only in the combat history of such a unit but also its culinary history. As a result we strive to prepare for ourselves authentic Wehrmacht meals as described in Kochen im Krieg prior to every online battle. It should also be of note that research has shown (as per Kriegsstärkenachweisungen) that the brave and daring chefs which manned the field kitchens were issued weapons. These documents indicate that members of such a unit would be equipped with rifles and pistols, but we are certain that they also possessed rolling pins, light machine guns, Mkb42s, and large wooden spoons. Keeping in line with the "could have been, must have been" philosophy of Tripwire Interactive we have no qualm with fielding an armed battlegroup consisting of Germany's finest Truppenkochs. Recruitment The 29. Feldküchen-Regiment 'Erbswurst' is accepting recruits who are able to wear silly chef hats. All individuals wishing to join the 29.FKR are required to prepare an edible meal using otherwise inedible components. All successful applicants will be assigned a silly hat and a Dienstschöpfer. However we actually don't have an application to fill out as it fell in to a Gulaschkanone and was served to members of the army who were used to the taste of paper. They did not receive honorary enlistment. Our Steam Community page is: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/feldkuche Guten Appetit! -Oberschnitzelmeister von Höbo
