"Red Orchestra" is actually the name of a Soviet spy network, that primarily focused on sabateur and other activities behind German lines in Russia during WWII. I think the team's original intent (waaaay back before RO mod) was to make a spy/saboteur game. Then that eventually turned into just making a realistic game about the eastern front, and they kept the name from the first mod for RO mod on the UT2.0 engine.

That's how I remember the story anyway.

As far as I remember, the spy ring operated mainly in Germany. And possibly in other countries in occupied Europe, but I´m not sure. But the ring did not operate in Soviet Union. And it was a spy ring, not actual saboteurs at all.

Right they didn't actively participate IN the saboteuring acts. I thought it was also active in Russia in areas of German occupation -- I could be wrong here.
