Default Firebug weapon

Ok, I know what you thinking: another weapon thread, firebug again, this guy totally got too many time on his hand

BUT

Here's my idea of my total-dominant firebug (ok, maybe not total dominant, but still a very good idea nevertheless)

Incendiary ammo for LAR, so each shot will ignite zed for double-triple time the current flamethrower does. To make it less OP, maybe we reduce the damage of the LAR or give it physical damage = 0 (like the incendiary grenade got 0 explosive damage)

Just played L4D2, and I hate to say that I love the incendiary ammo and the explosive ammo in that game. It just so f***ing fun burning the tank and have him light up the whole map MUAWAAHAAAAA

BTW, is there a real explosive ammo in real life? Incendiary round (aka tracer round) is realistic, but I dont know about explosive one.

And here we go, the second INGENIOUS weapon for firebug (this one I got idea from merry man achievement)

Shoot burning arrow from the xbow. Yea, baby, burn-friking-arrow that burn not on zed but all ZEDSSSS it fly thru on the way. Dont make the arrow retrievable like the normal one, but keep the + ammo capacity of firebug (I think it's 40% more fuel currently, right? so it's like 55 arrows max). Burning arrow is not, like, never heard of. However, advanced technology give it full penetration force while still keep the flame shines all the way.

Reduce headshot damage (or remove extra damage, i dont care) and balance it as much as you want. I just want to see zeds got burn all the way.

"Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn." Alfred Pennyworth - The dark knight.

Dont you think flare pistol sounds too much like tf2?

Beside, having perk that doesnt carry all their default weapon together isnt never heard of. How about M14 ss vs xbow ss? Or Chainsaw zerker vs fire axe zerker?

While flame thrower works just fine, it's generally accepted that firebug need improvement with their load-out. So instead of adding more gun (like the latest patch), we can improvise existing guns.

Well,

1, the explosive could be containted inside the zed and not ignite others.
2, if "flare pistol is similar to TF2 in name, but the application of it can be different", why not the xbow, LAR, or for that matter, everything else?

May I remind you that reuse things isnt "never heard of". Flame grenade of firebug, for example.

As for your M14 ss vs xbow ss, I rarely ever see a SS that doesnt use dual handcannons or dual 9mm's as their extra weaponry for those combinations.
Again, what dual HC or 9mm have anything to do with the primary weapon? I just simply show that there exist other perks who use different weapon load-out, base on different personal preference. So there's nothing wrong with a xbow firebug or a LAR firebug or a flamethrower firebug.
What I'm saying is that, there will be different ways to play firebug, not a jack-of-all-trade that carry one helluva things on their back pack.

Existing guns should stay their intended purpose, there's nothing wrong with adding new content just like the medic got an MP7. If they followed the methods you outline, they would've simply stuck a tactical attachment to the bullpup for the medics.Generally it's all about appeal, not about making it simple to add to current game.
Agree, there's nothing wrong with adding new guns. But there's also nothing wrong with modifying existing guns. It's like, comparing a ice from Walmart and Ice from the pole. They are ice, but they have nothing to do with each other.

And again, if they add heal module to bullpup, maybe I'm happier than MP7. It's one helluva recoil and wheat-grain-shot (not peashoot)

And you told me it's not appeal? Shooting a line of zeds and have them burn is too much appeal one can handle, so I suggest it on a Co-op game.

A pistol would be cheap, and unlike the flamethrower could be purchased early in the waves to get level progress.
There you go, everyone will buy that cheap pistol and have flare around the map. While fire xbow will be exclusively to firebug. Which way is better?

Currently, firebug only has f.t. and nades to level, whereas all other perks have many ways to level.
Agree.
