Default Wimmin Snipers

Well I don't know how much of this can be taken with a pinch of salt but this is from http://www.battlefield-site.co.uk/warII_anecdotes.htm I will do a bit of research and see what other snippets I can unearth.

Roza Shanina

Yelizaveta Mironova

Lyudmila Pavlichenko

Marie Ljalkova

"During 1943 alone, the Red Army had over 1,000 female snipers who accounted for over 12,000 kills. Typical of these women are the two snipers pictured above:
Senior Sergeant Roza Shanina, with 54 confirmed kills (actual kills were usually very much higher), wearing the medal of the Order of Glory 2nd and 3rd Class.
Marine sniper Yelizaveta Mironova with an unknown number of kills, seen here demonstrating the use of camouflage."

*Edit* - according to www.world-war.ru Mironova got 34 kills.

Here's the Wiki about Pavlichenko: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyudmila_Pavlichenko

about Ljalkova: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Ljalkov%C3%A1

Shanina: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roza_Shanina

Before I get accused of flamebaiting or posting a 'Wow Russian 1337 sniper chicks were Hot!!'-style post, I am well aware that many weren't - it's hardly relevant that Roza Shanina was cute.

Those are interviews of real veterans, all were sniper women. They've seen some scary stuff...

Thanks for these guys - I am seeing some pretty big disparities in some of the kill counts here (hardly surprising considering what a political/PR issue sniperism was)

This is Nina Lobkovskaya and you casn read about her here: http://www.vor.ru/English/Victory/vict_16.html

I would like to see if there is any more info about Kostyrina, Mudretsova and some others.

Those were some impressive stories in iremember.ru. True equality between genders.

Yeah, I know. But I'm really impressed by her. IMO, she makes Zaitsev look like a chump.

Not that my rifle is a sniper rifle anyway... just a plain 'ol infantry gun-spear-club-walking stick.

And @ Cuddles: My wife's mother was in the US Navy... her father was in the USMC, her step-dad was career US Army...

I think alot of it has to do with patience. Generally women can "out wait" men through boring times when most men will start getting agitated and want to go "get some action". Really patience is some thing most people (even alot of women nowadays) fail to grasp. Patience really is a virtue. Another thing that I think might also be part of it is women generally have better fine muscle (small movement) control than men due to them being; well smaller. Of course there are superb male snipers (both then & now) but I'm just stating some traits which make (made) female snipers effective also.

Don't forget they can be heartless, cruel ice-queens, too.
