Default No stats? GREAT!

I was just playing the game. I found my regular 'favourites' servers where either empty or full. So, taking a gamble, i tried a new server out. To my surprise, i discovered that the Scores section was removed. I personally tought this was a great feature for a game like RO. I dont really care how many points i get for killing or capturing an objective in the game anyway, so long as my team wins. With that said, i checked out the server details but didn't spot what i considered a distinctive 'Scores: Disabled' feature. I did read something about mutators though. What i'd like to know is, What tag is given to a server that uses such a feature?

Also, the server in question was french, and so the language barrier means i wont want to play there too often. If anyone knows of an english server that has the above feature of no scores displayed, and also has no death messages displayed, which also features a black screen while dead (without the spectator/player jumping feature), then can you post it up here please. I need a server that makes the game as real as possible.
Thanks.

I agree with you. I think that the messages telling who killed who should be removed too.

I like it too because it adds to the immersion of RO.
Great feeling of uncertainty when you shoot someone at far range, but you cannot confirm 100% that he reallywent down from your bullet. So you just keep sneaking, and watching that position because you never know if he only went prone behind those sandbags or took cover behind his dead teammates to make a fool out of you after you pop your head out

I'd like it if they turned off the kill messages for everybody, because while it is fun to have them turned off for yourself, you always end up being killed by a person you assumed was dead. I like the scores list though, because well, its fun being better than other people.

They'd have to rework the scoring then too if you want death messages out, because you can just check the scoreboard to see if you got the kill.

And I personally like the first person dying animations. I can't stand it when servers force you to black. The first person dying with the hands and legs adds a lot of realism to the game. I don't mind the screen staying black after you die though.

The game is realistic enough to play in a server that doesn't have a couple of features you're so obssessive about that you post on here like a cocaine fiend saying you absolutely NEED these features.

Checking the scoreboard for the kill takes that extra step and time as opposed to just glancing in the corner. Most wont' do that to check a kill, more just to check how they are doing, which is important too. If a person can't feel any achievement it gets boring and doing poorly takes the fun out of things just as much as it's a sense of acomplishment to notice oneself getting better.
Having DM off is good I agree for teamwork and realism. I really HATE when the blackscreen is on though. I like to see the animation when I die, or the circumstances at least a little, and if it's a longer spawn time on some maps it ****s to be stuck in the dark. I think the actual abuse of being able to see around after one dies is insignificant compared to the graphical interest and fun I get out of being able to see.

Agreed. I wish more servers would run these mutators.

Head on over to DBDUK (Server's in the netherlands), we have deathmessages turned off, blackscreen on death, hidden reinf/class for enemy team. Simply put, we got all the realism stuff we can put in there :-)

edit: and there's loads of community maps on there too.

How does that make the game exciting? I hate servers that run mods like that because you can never tell if you're actually making any progress.

There are only a limited number of servers out there, and only a handful that are ever populated. The sooner people stop following the crowd and realize that turning the death messages off is a dumb idea, the sooner we can just return to normal gameplay.

Why not make it a client-side option? Why must this lack of information be forced on all players?

Will do.

On another point though, i think that the games default server settings should have adopted the no scores & no death messages options, with mutators needed to actually turn these features on, instead of the other way round which is the case now.

I agree that score is not important at all but I belong to players that are missing death mesages. I realy do not enjoy game that much when I cannot see them. But I have played on server where you can see who you have killed and who killed you but you do not see other player's death messages... and that was ver good compromise for me.

oh yes and with removing all death messages you will miss all those beautiful multikills with nades and some killing-streaks that are spice of online gaming

I would be very angry if they would completely remove scoreboard and the deathmessages. I couldn't have any fun with my friends like "haahaa I shot you ".
