Can't Walk

I recently built a new computer. When I started up RO ... all my keys worked but I couldn't walk. Can't walk in any direction but I can prone/jump/shoot ...etc.

I tried changing the buttons I had set for walking and a computer restart. That didn't help.

Then I tried deleting my user.ini and redorchestra.ini files then verifying game cache. That seemed to work.

But the next day, I had the same problem and this time deleting and re-downloading those files didn't help.

Help fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

@ Zetsu: I also deleted the defaults when trying that out.

@ Oldih: I tried using the arrow keys instead of WSAD. and I also tried setting TGFH but no matter what keys I use (even keys that are verified working for other functions in game) I still have the same issue.

I tried deleting the whole system folder and validating. Hopefully, this fixes it.

update: that didn't help.

edit: here's my user.ini

Are you overclocking your new computer?
Have you tried a different keyboard? Is it USB or PS/2?
If its USB, have you tried a different port?

I compared your user.ini to mine, but didn't see anything obvious.
I have no clue. I'm just tossing out dumb ideas that pop into my head.
I realize it works for other games....but....
I'm still leaning toward joystick related....... Joystick is not selected in the configuration screens anywhere?

he fixed it by formatting his computer. Its something hardware ish, perhaps a keyboard driver or something like sticky keys or whatever.

For what its worth in the eyes of a third person it looks as if the player with the keyboard issue is jittering. As in quickly moving forward a few centimeter and then automatically getting back. As if the key for forward is tapped infinitely fast so you actually do not move as you need to hold a key for that. Programs like teamspeak etc did however work.

Koba when he had the issue was able to bind his mouse to move forward regularly, so it got to be some sort of a keyboard setting or driver somewhere. When he dumped his ps2 keyboard (assuming the mobo's 2 in 1 ps2 port was crooked) for an usb one the issue still persisted.

Hex on you!

Hex on you!

[3.SA]Koba, It’s because I put a hex on you!!!

You remember about 3 months ago you joined “StalingradKessel” as a Soviet combat engineer around the 10 minute mark. All three doors were intact and you asked “Why aren’t the doors blown” and about 5 different Soviet players voiced in and said “don’t blow the doors we are 21% ahead in reinforcements” and you replied “I will blow up what ever I want to.”

You did and we loss!

Note: Moderator, this is a 100% serious reply!!!

I actually tried installing keyboard specific drivers when this problem occurred and that didn't help.

I also reinstalled all motherboard drivers - and RO/Steam which had no effect.

It seems like a full HD format is the only way to relieve the issue.

but one thing interesting here - is that both of us were using a brand new HD with a fresh install of windows. Something must have been borked in that initial install.

@ Shulk, I don't remember that incident but it sure sounds like me.
