I have no problems with that.
For some reason the Communist Hammer & Sickle is not viewed anywhere near as badly as the swastika even tough Stalin was a preety nasty guy to say the least.
May it's due to the Holocaust being exposed so widely that the hate is larger and the fact that the Soviet Union allways had it's mouth sealed shut.
Although true, that wasn't what I meant in my post. In that picture, there are 8 swastikas on the uniform. What I meant was that I don't want it turning into World at War wannabe with swastika banners hanging left and right that were most likely never there. Or I don't want uninformed modders to start putting swastika armbands on German soldiers because they think it makes them look like "real" Nazis.

8, seriously? I only saw 2, the arm-band and the medal on the right pocket.

Interesting, since Soviet Commissar Lazar Kaganovich ordered the artificial famine in Ukraine that left 7 million to starve to death known as the Holodomer. All of Ukraine grain went to the west. I say that is deliberate extermination policy. But it is "okay" for Allies to do it. The Americans did it to Germany after the war by restricting a calorie diet smaller than average morning breakfast too.

Victors write the history and their crimes never come to light. Millions have died to the stupid hammer and sickle. 100s of millions. but che guerera is popular guy. Stupid.

Well it's what the public associates with an image, and for the swastika it's SS, genocide and in modern times it's an image used by white supremacists in Europe and America. It's not the same for soviet imagery because the mass murders are associated with Stalin himself and in later years the soviet regime changed but their symbols remained.

I understand the meaning some people but behind symbols is only for historical accuracy, but the majority of people will attach a feeling or a message to it.

Yea and I almost got banned because of the swastika on my gun in Black Ops :\ Idk whats so wrong about those swastikas. I mean we learn about nazi germany in school right, so everybody knows about that symbol. Stalin killed a lot of people too, but USSR symbol is the "right" one <.< The old games used nazi symbols without problem.

Putting a swastika on you're gun puts out a very particular image: the gun being a killing machine, the swastika represents the force and ideals behind the killing. It's a strong image which will inevitably make people wonder why you would do that, the first idea they might get is you must be a Nazi or sympathizer. This would be the reasonable assessment of you're act. Yes, I said act. Even inside a virtual game making a statement and use of symbolism has its realities attached to it. Some people tend not to recognize this and think virtual reality is none-reality. But i won't go further in these idea's because I'd be starting an essay on video games, reality and concepts relating to all this... blablablabla... everyone would probably stop reading my post at this point if most people haven't already.

The reason you're giving is not motivated by any reason.

If this is you're idea of being "baddass": shooting innocent people in the back of the head, gassing people, beating political enemy's up, eugenics.... The list goes on just look it up. I don't see how anyone would want to be labeled that way. Do you like this?

I guess its also all about context, putting it on a gun is very different from putting it in a game (where it would be found) portraying the time period.

I don't see the point of banning the symbol, in fact I'm pretty sure it encourages Neo-Nazi's more then anything else: makes them feel like they have something to fight against...

It's stupid if the Nazi flag was hanging in Stalingrad it should be in the game. But i guess its not essential for having fun in the game so...

Ehem http://www.swastika-info.com/

Also, in my home town there is a military base of the Finnish Air Force, and there is a sign by the road leading to the base which has two swastikas on the upper corners, also nothing to do with National Socialism.

Perhaps off-topic, but couldn't resist. :p

Ah! But your not getting technical enough, those swastikas look different than the nazi ones though the fact that the nazi ones are inverted and on an angle. A little change like that makes a distinctive difference between them. I've actually got a boom on how the nazi swastika came to be, and on how the arien ideology came to be.

Doesn't make much sense does it? The Soviet Union was just as evil as Nazi Germany, yet they get their symbols all through out the game. Do you know how many German women, children even, were raped and murdered by the Soviet Soldiers? Two evils don't cancel each other out.

Some wehrmacht soldiers raped and murdered women in Russia this is I'm afraid a characteristic of invading armies and it has happened repeatedly throughout history, it has nothing to do with the symbols. The Swastika was I'm afraid used by Hitler as a symbol representing his ideology which if you read Mein Kamf is clearly violent, aggressive, racist and hegemonic. I think but do not quote me on this, the swastika was chosen because Hitler considered the Aryan race came from the east... Something like that not sure....

The hammer and the sickle is associated with the Soviet Union and communist idea's more specifically the union of peasants and workers against the bourgeois and aristocracy. Having these idea's does not necessarily make you a Stalinist or a Maoist or associate you directly ideologically to any mass murder. The ideology does not inherently condone mass murder.

With a Swastika you are either Buddhist or a National-Socialist. It's usually quite clear what you are depending on the circumstances in which you portray the symbol.
