Yea and I almost got banned because of the swastika on my gun in Black Ops :\ Idk whats so wrong about those swastikas. I mean we learn about nazi germany in school right, so everybody knows about that symbol. Stalin killed a lot of people too, but USSR symbol is the "right" one <.< The old games used nazi symbols without problem.
Putting a swastika on you're gun puts out a very particular image: the gun being a killing machine, the swastika represents the force and ideals behind the killing. It's a strong image which will inevitably make people wonder why you would do that, the first idea they might get is you must be a Nazi or sympathizer. This would be the reasonable assessment of you're act. Yes, I said
act. Even inside a virtual game making a statement and use of symbolism has its realities attached to it. Some people tend not to recognize this and think virtual reality is none-reality. But i won't go further in these idea's because I'd be starting an essay on video games, reality and concepts relating to all this... blablablabla... everyone would probably stop reading my post at this point if most people haven't already.
The reason you're giving is not motivated by any reason.
If this is you're idea of being "baddass": shooting innocent people in the back of the head, gassing people, beating political enemy's up, eugenics.... The list goes on just look it up. I don't see how anyone would want to be labeled that way. Do you like this?
I guess its also all about context, putting it on a gun is very different from putting it in a game (where it would be found) portraying the time period.
I don't see the point of banning the symbol, in fact I'm pretty sure it encourages Neo-Nazi's more then anything else: makes them feel like they have something to fight against...
It's stupid if the Nazi flag was hanging in Stalingrad it should be in the game. But i guess its not essential for having fun in the game so...
