  • Happy holidays from the Horzine team as we present our seasonal Yuletide Horrors update! Take a perilous stroll through Sanitarium and uncover its dark, ritualistic secrets while dispatching the holiday horrors skulking through its maniacal hallways. But don’t stop there! You can thwart the Patriarch’s plans to clone a legion of Zeds in the Biotics Lab Objective game mode. Seems a bit much to get done on top of decorating and gift wrapping? Don’t worry, the Horzine team developed a few new handy dandy weapons to knock the socks off those pesky, ravenous elves! As you deck the halls with guts and blood, wear some holiday cheer with our many new cosmetics that’ll put even your own grandmother’s sweater to shame! Tis the season to be slaying, and from the Horzine team, we wish you all a grand, bloody-good time!

  • 1 New Boss

    • Matriarch
      • Rachel Clamely returns as the Matriarch. Her pursuit to stop her father turned into an overzealous dedication, and she has gone through great lengths to contest against him. Her biotech modifications have given her a new perspective in life but her mind has gone quite mad from it. Nothing will stand in her way, friend or foe!
  • 1 New Community Map

    • Sanitarium
      • Compatible with Survival, Weekly, Versus Survival, and Endless Game Modes.
      • Note: Versus Survival game mode is unavailable for the Beta 1 v1088.
      • Blast away crowds of holiday Zeds as mysterious entities perform a dark ritual to summon the great one.
  • 1 Objective Map
    • Biotics Lab
      • Mercenaries assist Dr. Ogada Buyu in demolishing the cloning mechanisms of the Biotics Labs to stop the Patriarch’s plans to clone a new legion of Zeds!
  • 4 New Weapons
    • HRG Incision for the Field Medic

    • An alteration of the Railgun that fires overcharged, highly-piercing bullets and darts. The bullets are capable of shocking Zeds and inducing the EMP effect on them. As for the darts, they hit their target almost instantly and are capable of healing other players for a substantial amount of health. These darts deal more damage than standard darts and have the potential to knock down or stumble Zeds that are in the way of their path.
    • Trader price is 1500 Dosh.
  • HRG Winterbites for the Gunslinger

    • An alteration of the Spitfires that fires large, nitrogen ice shards that explode on impact, dealing damage and applying the freeze affliction to any Zeds inside the explosion radius.
    • Trader price is 325 Dosh for single and 650 Dosh for duals.
  • Mosin Nagant for the Sharpshooter (Not available for purchase during BETA)

    • This is a paid DLC weapon. This weapon can be shared amongst players through our weapon sharing system.
    • Five-shot, bolt-action, internal magazine-fed military rifle. This M91/30 allows a capable sharpshooter to fire at distant threats, stab at nearby threats, and block and parry damage from incoming threats.
    • Trader price is 1100 Dosh.
  • Riot Shield & Glock 18 for the SWAT (Not available for purchase during BETA)


    • This is a paid DLC weapon. This weapon can be shared amongst players through our weapon sharing system.
    • A combination of the Riot Shield and Glock 18. The Riot Shield can mitigate most incoming, frontal damage only while a player is aiming down the sights. Its bash is capable of slamming into multiple Zeds crowding in front of you. The Glock 18 is a fully automatic pistol with two fire modes: single and automatic.
    • Trader price is 1500 Dosh.

Balance
  • Zeds
    • Rioter
      • Head armor obliteration value increased from 80 to 125.

Designer Note :
There was a bug with the damage calculations where Perk bonuses were not applying correctly to the head armor obliteration value. As such, the base obliteration number was lower than intended. Now that the bug has been fixed, the value has been increased to its intended gameplay value.

Top Community Issues:
  • Fixed instances of the Abomination’s gorge attack causing players to get caught in a stuck state.
  • Various fixes to snag and stuck spots in Ashwood Asylum.
  • Implemented measures that should help reduce server hard drive load on workshop content update retrieval that we're looking for server admin feedback to further improve within the Beta period.

Gameplay:
  • Fixed an issue where a player playing as the Survivalist Perk did not receive XP for Berserker or SWAT while using their respective Perk weapons.

Zeds:
  • Fixed an issue with the Abomination where the FX for his gorge would continue to play after the attack was finished.

Maps:
  • Fixes to ZED pathing in Ashwood Asylum.
  • Fixed an issue with Trader Pod textures appearing incorrectly in survival mode.
  • Fixed an issue with boss pathing on Monster Ball.

Weapons:
  • Fixed an issue where the lock-on indicator for the Railgun could remain on screen after changing fire mode.

Cosmetics:
  • Fixed an issue with the Kickin’ It Deluxe emote textures not displaying correctly in the game lobbies.
  • Fixed an issue with the Air Metal emote not displaying correctly when equipped by a player using D.A.R.
  • Fixed an issue with the D.A.R. cosmetics where armor cosmetics and their variants were not visible in 1st Person.

Servers:
  • Security improvements for kick/ban exploits

New boss is brutal. I was on the new map on hard and I can't imagine that boss on HOE in a 6 person game. Her ranged attack is vicious. First impressions. HRG Incision is fantastic. A medic can heal and support the team with some shots that can damage big zeds if needed rather than just keep kiting. I wish it was cross perked with the sharp as the sharp could do heals while shooting a lesser rail gun. The Winterbite so far was a bit underwhelming. It's chance for freezing seems too small; so it's basically mostly spamming Freezethrower snowballs at zed's heads. On the other two weapons, those don't seem to be in the public beta. :( New map is big though timing the traps when playing solo can be very rough. Also the bridge trap in the room with the cells with arms doesn't seem to be working at all though I could have tried it on too early a wave. Players will like the new map. Havent tried Biotics Lab objective yet. That's probably tomorrow though that new boss might make it lots of kiting.

Just a thought, but could you increase the spawn chance of matriarch during the beta so we could really test her out?
So far i only got her once in 6 hour play session, and then its the usual overflow of abomination, kfp and sometimes hans... Patriarch is quite rare.

Ive done 10 rounds or so, different modes... I have not even seen the new boss yet :/

So it will take like 300+ rounds just to do the "kill boss 10 times" achi :p hehe

Yep, it's a bit disappointing because the principal attractive of this update is the Matriarch and having to kill her 10 times with this spawn rate... It's quite hard :/
I know that we will get a Matriarch objective map in one of the next updates but a lot of players thought that Bioticslab boss would have been the Matriarch or two boss rounds being the Patriarch first and then the Matriarch.

Anyways, Sanitarium is a bit neat, Incision and Mosin are pretty cool.
Mat's brutal with whipping out quick ranged attacks, hug your cover.

Winterbite is pretty disappointing for a couple reasons:
I think this bug is happening with it, making the damage inconsistent. Snowball impact damage sometimes doesn't apply, and you only get the weak area of effect frost puff.
The graphic effects of the puff of frost can be pretty visually obstructive. Especially point blank in zed time: blinding.
Snowballs count as explosives that sirens can destroy.

Actually now that i tried the g18, i can't understand how the shield functions.
I was hoping that alt fire would be bound to the shield, so i could use it as a shield and not change fire mode.... And ads just cuts fov so much that it makes nearly unusable.

While making it 1-5 times would be a little more reasonable, that would still be an underwhelming objective since it comes down to chance. So far I have felt like every boss who isn't the Matriarch is a waste of a game.

I doubt the objective will change at this point though.

Same feeling here. I played 5 games and I got King Fleshpound 3 times, 1 Abomination and 1 Patriarch.

I don't remember exactly but when the Abomination was introduced in the game two years ago it was the only boss spawning at Krampus Lair map? If that was the case they could do the same with the Matriarch in Sanitarium.

Just killed her in 6man HoE.
Each boss fight in HoE has been new boss MAT.

So play HoE if ya wanna fight new boss seems like the best way. But shes quite hard :p

Which is like the worst idea to put her into a beta.
How is it expected from players to test out if she's too strong or not if it spawns so rarely?
All I can gather right now from playing with her 5 times, is that she might be too quick and too tanky (i nearly got beat up to death by her on hard as a berserker, as if i was playing on hoe)

We disagree. While forcing the encounter would give more early feedback on her, it might hide flaws in other systems, such as her spawning. The beta is set up to be just like the live environment would be.

I know the chance for all bosses is the same, it's like throwing a dice, you can take the same result two or three times in a row, but now I played a total of 12 games and I didn't fight her :( 12 games and I couldn't test the new boss.

this beta update is pretty good, i have no issues playing(bugs), i just see a blue text on wave 6 or 7. I have only played Biotics Lab objective and it seems to be very very easy with so many ammo crates and money, by the time i reach wave 3 i have mp9 upgraded with base kriss, no armor or nades. i don`t think this see a challenge.??

also when it spawns all of the same character could you add more then 44? maybe like 60 with less money? I enjoyed that.
