Sometimes I wonder if Claymore haters just never used it enough, but whats with all the beef? Slow swing speed? Is that the reason? There must be something that makes people think this weapon is underpowered, but I just don't get it. It's not like because the Claymore costs a little more and is 3rd tier it should be a complete upgrade in every regard, but it does have its own unique good aspects.
Maybe people just don't realize the good points about it? For starters, there's range.
Weapon Range!

KFMeleeGun- 70/ 70/ N/A (any weapon extended from this one inherits these statistics unless set otherwise)
Knife- 65/ N/A/ N/A
Machete- 80/ N/A/ N/A (no noticeable difference than knife ingame)
Axe- 80/ 90/ 90 (quite a bit farther than knife)
Katana- 90/ 95/ 95 (just a little farther than axe)
Claymore- 100/ 110/ 110 (farther than katana)
Chainsaw- 160/ N/A/ N/A(no noticeable difference than knife ingame)
Due to the chainsaw's apparently unused range modifier, The claymore has the longest reach out of any melee weapon (even the bat if you're counting that ). While that may be by only around 10, it makes a world of a difference in practice. You can hit anything that attacks by melee without any fear of retaliation, and crawlers can be taken down in air much easier than with a katana.
Next +point: Utility value. Much like the axe, the claymore's alt does enough damage to stun a scrake while also doing little enough to avoid raging a fleshpound with a single hit. Unlike the axe, husks and sirens can be killed with a single primary swing to the head on 6man hoe. Similar foes would only be decapped by the axe's primary for what it's worth.
Last +point: Ease of loadout. Typically, if a zerk chooses to use the axe they complement it with the katana. This complicates things as you have three weapons tied to the melee button (default: 1). Claymore zerks usually dont bring along a katana, so only two weapons on the 1 key. However I will concede that this is a more subjective thing.
So what are your negative points about the claymore that keep you from using it? All I can see is;
Slower swing speed/damage timing (legitimate)
1 additional weight block than Axe (does this make THAT big a difference?)
Price (its not what, dirt cheap?)
Not British enough/visually unappealing (I'm really searching for reasons now)
