VNSU-Ia Drang Valley - WIP/Feedback

Dude, do you know how long they took to make the maps in the game? A year! And Ia Drang will be bigger! I am not rushing out anything half done so people get a bad first impression from it.

But i made some screenshots to show some progress:

A new landing zone next to the small one i showed before. Its the same size as the landing zone near Bravo on An Lao Valley.

A napalmed area i just started on. The rocks might stay or not, still a heavy w.i.p location.

Starting work on the farmers area. The napalmed area is beyond the tree line. (heavy w.i.p)

The first parts of the NVA's main base is here.

Well Yeah, but they also had to create the assets (Fairly sure the LDs also were the ones who made a fair amount of the assets for the levels), which increased the time it took to complete them. Among everything else from developing the game. None of which you need to do. Word of advice coming from personal experience, don't hold back a map, release it sooner rather than later. You'll get feedback sooner and any changes that need to be made can be made sooner resulting in higher efficiency because you'll be redoing/removing/updating less work.

I don't think anyone should be telling a map maker when to release their map. Look forward to it and be thankful this much attention to detail is going into a FREE map.
Agreed as being one myself however I was emphasizing the fact that it's better to release something sooner rather than later. Regardless of quality. You need feedback for maps, it's a must.

Suggestion here from playing both custom and the stock maps:

If you're going to add boulders or ridges like that, either make them climbable or 6-8' tall. There are a lot of obstacles on maps that the average person could climb or even step over that for some reason block movement. In other words, try to be consistent in what you can or can't climb.

And if you can get on top of them, try to make them kind of flat so people can ADS when prone on them. Unlike the human body, the game camera is rigid. IRL a person can somewhat conform themselves to an uneven surface, but in-game your POV will change drastically to match that surface. This can be frustrating when you move a few inches forward and are suddenly aiming at the sky.

Just to make you aware of some crazy situation in here. Some guy started making exact same map VNSU-Ia_Drang_Valley and recently pushed his map to a workshop.

I would highly suggest to contact him, since there cant be two Ia Drang Valley maps and take actions over his map.

I mean.

There can be two.

If you're too slow that's kinda Velds problem. He's just gotta make his one better.

Being slow doesnt allow you to take things over whatsoever. You're being nice towards Frye, but not Veld for some reason.

And no, I dont think there can be two.
Imagine somebody making second Brecourt, Foy or Caen Outskirts even, that would be hilarious.

And nothing for any outsider to be concerned with.

This is a competition.

May the better Ia Drang win.

I had found someone that could finish the map for me, Tyler was more than happy to further work on the map! (If you don't know him, he took 1st place in Tripwire's mapping contest for RS2 with Jungle Raid! (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1148354811)
