[Error] Steam Not Connecting To Internet While I'm Connected

I got hit by Irene on Sunday and have been without power for 80+ hours. Luckily, my mom works at a middle school so I'm here for power and free Internet.

In order to use their WiFi, I had to download "Bradford Dissolvable Agent". I'm guessing it scans if I'm using sites that aren't allowed at the school. For some reason though, I'm able to go to any site I want, like YouTube or even here, without it being blocked.

But when I try to start Steam, it says that there is no connection, but obviously there is. Is there any fix to this or any help?

Sounds like the network is limited (as would be expected at a school where they probably don't want their kids gaming during school time). Also, since it sounds like a steam issue (not an RO issue) I would suggest the Steam forums.

The Steam forums are pretty slow, I don't have days to wait for responses...

Like I said, I suspect your school doesn't have the ports open for games/clients. This is not unusual and I highly doubt you'll be able to change it. Try loading steam on another machine at the school, if you have the same problem I'm guessing its a port issue.
