Insurgency... A modern RO? (merged)

Saw a few posts in regards to this HL2 mod that is coming out. I understand one of the devs briefly worked on it as well. I didnt see it on the forum here so I thought Id put it up for all to see.

It looks like something comparable to RO but in a modern setting.

Insurgency looks nice enough, shame about the boring setting.

Also, I am kinda worried bout the slow progress at insmod.net, they have been working for well over a year, and still almost no info released?

This is a mod that I've been looking out for, possibly one to even bother reinstalling my copy Half-Life 2 for! I am actually somewhat excited about the Yugoslavian campaign. Well, excited isn't exactly the word, but that's a scenario that no game I know has ever touched before, and a few weapons that aren't usually well represented in the FPS genre.

It is a pity that they taken so long to update, but they have Beta Testers on board now, so hopefully we should hear something soon. Hopefully. *crosses fingers*

Well there are lots of info in dev. plans.
Also I think they don't want to reveal too much, as the mod isn't going to be released in a while.

I am excited about this one too. Even the sounds they put out sound great. But...yea....they are taking a long time. What do you expect from people who work part time on something and have a jobe somewhere else?

SOME of the people from RO worked on it briefly? Let's see, the original RO founder and leader is the current leader and modeler of it (Jeremy), Ripa, and Polygon as well. I know there are a few others, I just haven't been involved in that development.

I'm surprised by the number of people on their boards who dislike RO. Apparently they dont like realism... Heck, one of them said bullet drop in RO was exaggerated, like wtf brb bbq lemi check on that...

I'm still looking forward to it but realism > fun if it means that my bullets dont go the same place every time.

Besides OST, im probly most excited for INS than anything else. It really is basically a modern day RO. They have released little media but all that they have released oozes quality. And theyre close to a release. Id probly say within a month from now it will go public.

Doubt it will be released to the public in a month, testing will probably take at least a month itself.

I was enthusiastic about this mod, right up to the point where we all got our first taste of the Source engine. It's a shame that something that is clearly as high quality as this is going to be let down by an engine whose hit detection and netcode are as abysmal as it gets.
