As a random side note...
My dad's friend worked in military intelligence and spent some time intercepting gun runners heading into Cuba. Last time I was up in his house in College Station, he had a Lee Enfield that he took as a trophy from one of the boats he had stopped. He pointed out the there was a large-ish hole in the trigger guard, which in combination with a long stretch of rope you could use to set the gun up in an ambush position and fire on the enemy while not being in the exact position of the gun. While this would hardly ever work for anything other than volley fire at close ranges, and probably impossible to implement ingame (not to mention pointless), I thought it was pretty cool all the same. I'll try to get him to send a pic of his gun.
