Welcome to the RO2 Support Section

The following is a living compendium of support knowledge and help topics. If something is missing, feel free to PM myself, Yoshiro, Morello, Zips, or Bobdog.

There is a good chance someone else has experienced your issue and has posted about it already! If using the search function does not yield results, consult this list. And if you can't find an answer, please make a new thread.

The game's manual can be found here:

http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=68622

It is a work in progress and therefore is incomplete.

The Common Solution

If the game suddenly becomes unplayable (crashes constantly or is rendered unlaunchable) because you have changed a setting, or have otherwise low performance (this can happen quite easily after a patch has been released).

Navigate to: \Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config and delete the contents.

This is a the fix for most issues. When doing this, please know that you will have to redo your settings.

--If the above does not work, you might have varying stages of file corruption. The following list will progress through various stages towards a full-reinstall (RARELY NECESSARY).

Following each type, you'll need to verify the integrity of the game's cache. In the library, Right click on the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game cache. This will re-download the files you need from steam. If you don't know what is wrong, just do this first.

Type 1: Your default config files have become corrupt, you'll need to delete them, and verify the integrity of the game cache.
- Delete the files inside \Steam\steamapps\common\red orchestra 2\ROGame\Config

Type 2: Your shader cache might be corrupt, and will have to be re-downloaded. This can also solve issues pertaining to graphic glitches like black skies, or invisible terrain.
- Delete the RefShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM3.upk inside \Steam\steamapps\common\red orchestra 2\ROGame\Content

Type 3: Your exe or binaries might have become corrupt after an update:
- Delete ROGame.exe inside \Steam\steamapps\common\red orchestra 2\Binaries\Win32
- If just deleting the ROGame.exe does not solve it, delete the entire Binaries folder. (Binaries folder is 262mb)

If that doesn't solve the issue, you might have to delete various folders within the ROGame directory (only ones you haven't tried before!) and verifying the game cache. The biggest culprits are located inside the ROGame/CookedPC folder. Start with deleting the .upk and .u files.

If none of the solutions in this subsection works, it could also be a bad content server, and you should change it to another in the Downloads+Voice tab in the Steam settings menu and try again. This is only really the solution when an update has just been released, and some content servers might be corrupt.

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad Prerequisites

If you canceled out of, or the prerequisites failed to install when you first launched the game, you will have to install these manually for the game to function.

They are located in: \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\red orchestra 2\Binaries\windows\

Install the following prerequisites located inside that directory: pbsvc_hos.exe and UE3Redist.exe

If your game crashes, we have a place for you to deposit the game's dump (.dmp) files.

http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=57714

You can locate your .dmp files in \Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\Logs\

Simply attach them to a post in that thread with a brief explanation of what happened. We will then download the files and analyse them. You might or might not receive a direct response. Do not be alarmed by this! We are working to fix ALL performance issues as we can.

If you feel you are experiencing low performance, and have eliminated all possible interference from your system's software and hardware (including internet connection stability), look here:

http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=61789

If your game stutters wildly, and you have eliminated your internet's stability, you should also check to see if you have any active-scanning security software. Programs that check every inbound or outbound packet can and will affect game performance in a drastic manner. You should whitelist the My Games and Steam game directories to avoid any problems.
