PC Flamethrower eats FPS

In 1016 and 1017 updates players using flamethrower causing FPS drops. Before 1016 update all was fine with flames but now it slowing down my FPS to nearly 5-7. Yep, I play on 2012 year laptop but before these updates I had 30 FPS almost at all maps with custom low-medium settings. And interesting thing - if flamethrower used by myself, all just fine, dunno what exactly happening. Online only, no problems in solo mode.

Noticed this today too. I usually get 60 fps steady in most circumstances but it dropped to maybe 15 fps when a firebug on my team was using a flamethrower.

This is on Windows 10 with an i5 3570K and GTX970 both lightly OC'd.

I still get frame rate drops when someone uses a flame weapon, even prior to the 1015 content update. After the new update, however, my frame rate drops below 45. It's infuriating.
Normally I get 60 FPS on high (with a couple .ini edits), but now I get stuttering and drops even on the lowest settings.
I'm running an AMD FX-8350 CPU and a GTX 960 (EVGA SSC).
