Female Red Army soldiers

They don't add realism, they just add some tits nerds want to look at.

It's not real content, it's just eye-candy.

I'll consider buying HoS again if features such as this make through.

What are women? oh, those things we nerds use to wank to.

Oh no, there is no place for that in RO, so I'm gonna threaten TWI with not buying the game if there are women, lets see if they bite/care.

-Hey dude, did you get Red Orchestra 2? It's the best and most realistic game in the world
.-No I didn't
-Why?
.-CUZ THERE ARE WOMENZZ!!!11!!

Russian 1: Hey comrade, look at the pair on her!
Russian 2: Oh boy, I could watch her cap that objective all day long...Hey maybe after the battle we should <Bang Bang!!>

Now both Russians are dead from headshots...this is why I doubt anyone will look at these female soldiers as eye candy

Like mentioned by many others, they won't look too attractive. Don't you think they'll look like pornstars dressed in an Red Army uniform to shape their assets best.
The thing about women in uniforms is, 1.) keeping enemy models different
and 2.) it's reality, like many reports and photos show.

This would be like a game which is about the final days of WWII in Berlin and there was no Hitleryouth Tankhunter regiments and Volksturm. So you actually have to shoot at children holding guns and elderly men and women.

I remember a thread which asked for war crimes to be shown in the game. Well there seem to be guys here who want to see horrible things done by men to men but when it comes to shoot at women or fight beside them they wet their pants. :p Where's your chesthair? :D

And here is where I have to step in (again).

It is true that Russian women were used in military service, but this goes only as far as being bandsmen (no real medics, just carry wounded into safety), bomber crews flak crews and, occasionally, snipers. I have never seen accounts of soviet women actually fighting as infantry in any respectable numbers. Yes, there may be the occasional female partisan or the milita girl ala Enemy at the games. (blargh)

So, even if the Soviets deployed women in active service this means that this only effects "unpersonal" parts of service. I.e no charges of women screaming UURRAAAA.

This would be a bad idea for three things.

1st: It would be unrealistic to even have 1 in 100 players playing a female character (you will pobably see 1 in 3 ingame)

2nd: Even if you would encounter females, they would be (in realistic terms) too far away to even notice (i.e. there are accounts of soviet flak crews defending stalingrad, but the germans only found out after they saw the bodies) and these encounters would (normally) be way out of the game's scope.

3rd: It's simply wrong. No one wants to shoot at women in a realistic video game. Female characters may be ok for ****ty, unrealistic games like CoD or unrealistic but good games like UT or Quake, but they IMHO have NO PLACE AT ALL in a realism based game mostly trying to portray engagements of infantry.

Perhaps women characters (as soldiers or civilians) will be in the single-player campaign, where their game interactivity can be more scripted.

Although having Soviet female soldiers in-game would be historically accurate, this doesn't mean they must or must not appear in Heroes. There are game-presentation sensitivities that need to be considered, and because the game's publishers may well want to steer clear of portraying women dying in combat.

Nurses and auxiliaries fought against the enemies alongside with soldiers. Gulya Korolyova, a 20-year-old beauty from the capital's well-known family with literary background left her child behind and volunteered for the front. She joined the 214th Rifle Division on the Stalingrad Front's northern flank. She rescued over a hundred injured men and officers and killed 15 Nazis in the battles. Natalia Kashnevskaya, a nurse of the Guards Rifle Regiment and a former student of the Moscow theatre school, rescued from the battlefield 20 injured soldiers within a day and later took part in a battle showing Nazis with grenades.

hmmmm

Instead of attempting to insult me, please elaborate WHY devs should add a useless new model to the game, meaning extra work and RO2 coming later?

Edit: And why do you want women in the game so desperately?

They're as far as we know not in, why should devs waste development time adding them?. Seriously.

When did I say I want it desperately? I just found your "If there are women I don't buy it" very cheap, and worth insulting. It also makes me want to have women in game even more, just to see if you buy it.

If you sell this game so cheap as to not buy it because one feature is that either you don't give a damn about it, or you are just BSing around.

If the developers dick around making 100% useless features into the game, I'm not certain if I want to buy it. Especially a feature like this, requested only because someone wants to see tits in RO.

Propaganda.

And even if the numbers would be right, does that mean that every tiger should be able to take 150+ AT rifle and AT gun hits?

Don't think so.
Lemon is correct, Most Women in Russia fought in AA or as Pilots (and test Pilots as they did in Germany)

The Fighting Women of Stalingrad
Women volunteered for the army--often replacing the heavy losses that the Red Army suffered early in the war.
Vasili Chuikov writes: "It is no exaggeration to say that women fought alongside men everywhere in the war....Anyone who visited the front would see women acting as gunners in anti-artillery units, as pilots of airplanes doing battle with the German air aces, as captains of armored boats, in the Volga fleet, for example, carrying cargoes from the left bank to the right and back again in unbelievably difficult conditions....
"The majority of gun crews in the Stalingrad anti-aircraft defense corps, in both anti-aircraft batteries and on search-lights, consisted of women...They would stick to their guns and go on firing when bombs were exploding all around them, when it seemed impossible not merely to fire accurately, but even to stay with the guns. In the fire and smoke, amid bursting bombs, seemingly unaware of the columns of earth exploding into the air all about them, they stood their ground to the last. The [German Air Force's] raids on the city, therefore, in spite of heavy losses among the anti-aircraft personnel, were always met by concentrated fire, which as a rule took a heavy toll among attacking aircraft. Our women anti-aircraft gunners shot down dozens of enemy planes over the blazing city."
Some of the Soviet Union's most famous night-flying bomber pilots were women.

So other than to put Women in the game as front line Infantry (and Yes there where some) would be for TWI, just a gimmick to play to a Gaming demographic (and there's nothing wrong with that)...just very unusual to put in and spend time on

Oh god...I never meant for this to turn into a post flaming war:rolleyes:

Dwin has a point though, many features in games serve no purpose whatsoever, but devs put them in anyway. Why? Because visuals play very heavily into how well a game sells. You could have a game with the best gameplay in the world, but if it isn't visually appealing, you aren't going to sell well.

I understand that this whole idea seems gimmicky, but I just think that it would be a nice addition to have since RO is heavily based in realism, and occasionally seeing a female russian soldier would be realistic, it may be extra work for the devs, but its these fine details that can really make the difference

IMO, not adding women because you don't want to see women dying in battle is a valid argument on moral grounds
Saying it would be unrealistic or gimmicky however, is not valid
