dual wield different pistols

I was going to diss the idea but come to think of it, there are situations where that setup would work, assuming you could actually control which pistol you fired.

I recall there use to be a HF mod called "The Specialist" where you could toggle fire mode for dual pistols / SMGs between automatic (like in KF and most FPS, each click toggles between the two guns) and manual fire, where left mouse button fires the left gun and right fires the right. You could even press both to let off two shots at once. MW2 stole that idea recently and then allowed you to reload each gun individually while keeping the other pointed to the front. How you can reload a sawed off shotgun with one hand is beyond me though.

But anyway suppose we allow one 9mm and one handcannon, and set it so primary fire shoots one and alt shoots the other. I could picture myself using 9mm for crawlers, stalkers and clots and handcannon for the rest. But the difference is fairly marginal. And we should definitely not allow reloading one pistol while still allowing the other to shoot.

I dont see the point. The only "use" for this is not having to swich weapons while shooting, but other than that...

Id much rather use dual handcannons than handcannon and 9mm together, since I can just swich to 9mm for smaller pests in under a second.

Maybe if the game had more pistols it might have some actual use.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Kinda weird, but probably quite useful.

Let's add other options for akimbo, for example any combination of: 9MM, HC, Knife and machete Machete.

Letting berserker dual-wield a machete with handcannon would be a much needed buff for the class.
There are many different issues with this. First, what is fire and what is melee. Ideally you'd use alt-fire but then you can't alt-fire your weapons, and for that matter which weapons would you alt-fire anyway.
Second, all of the dual weapons are actually a different weapon then the base weapons themselves but the system is built on only replacing the weapons which would be difficult to do if there was more than one combination of weapons possible (ie you purchase machete with 9mm and knife) and the system just breaks with the millions of shenanigans.

although an interesting idea, i'd much rather see the ability for you to BUY dual handguns, but CHOOSE to either use them akimbo or just one at a time. you've obviosuly got a holster for both weapons, but you can use them lol. the reason why i'd want that ability is for example, i'm trying to shoot accurately for headshots using the 9mm or handcannon against the weaker zeds, but then i have to worry about a FP or scrake and could do more damage dual wielding. that way you can buy both guns, have the extra ammo, and have the ability to choose to akimbo or not. right now, even when i have an extra couple blocks and could carry a second 9mm, i don't bother

Well, I suppose that it would require to code every combination as a different selectable weapon. To be honest, 9MM+Machete and HC+Machete variants would suffice.

I also think that it's obvious that while wielding for example 9MM and machete, you sacrifice 9MM's aiming mode and machete's power strike. Also, movement speed stays same as walking with gun.

Also, I'm all for the ability to choose whether you want to use one or dual 9MM's / Handcannons. That would be just trivial to code I guess, and provide much needed switching between precision and raw power.
