Steam Achievements: Coming to RO. Soon.

Finally, from what we have seen in our testing it appears that upgrading RO to use the newer version of Steamworks has fixed the player count issues in the server browser. And finally, we've not given out all of the news on the update just yet. We've got one more surprise in store for you ;)

Tanks are not my specialty,but snipers are! and all the sniper maps are bogus ones "the ones Ive tried", they get those little crannys to hide in and won't come out of em...lol

It looked good but I got too much lag,then the noobs were the only players trying it.
I'm trying "darkest hour" at this rate it'll take an hour to download.

here some team-wise benefit oriented achievements (some may have been previously said by other posters):

Drive/Ride APCs at least 80% full 300 times

Blow up 200 objectives

Kill 1000 enemy MGs

Kill 2000 enemies while in a crewed tank (at least 2 people)

Kill 5000 enemies as an MGer

Resupply 100 Mgs (within 40 seconds of their ammo request)

Cap 1000 objectives

Forgive 2000 TKs

Play a whole round without killing a friendly (1000 rounds total, but not necessarily in a row) (reset acheivement each time you make 3 or more unforgiven TKs in a round (not counting Satchel/HE or artillery)

Survive 10 minutes in a row killing at least 10 enemies within that time 50 times (to encourage non-suicidal behavior) (and as a non-tank class)

also, there should be a rank for each of those acheivements like: so people feel like they are acheiving something without playing it for years

rank 1: Kill 50 enemy MGs

rank 2: Kill 200 enemy MGs

rank 3: Kill 500 enemy MGs

rank 4: Kill 1000 enemy MGs

A little more info on achievements and the update. First off, yes any RO mod that we put up on Steam will be able to have their own mod specific achievements. Also, regarding getting your stats VS bots - the game is going to require at least 16 human players on a server for stats/achievements to count. Finally, from what we have seen in our testing it appears that upgrading RO to use the newer version of Steamworks has fixed the player count issues in the server browser. And finally, we've not given out all of the news on the update just yet. We've got one more surprise in store for you ;)

New map or maybe information on game 2 finally I hope:D

Not sure what achievements are in mind...lots of good ideas listed above and have to agree if any rewards for bad behaviour would kill the game.

So, knowing that is the case in the thought process, would suspect achievements can be quickly captured with the present data every game generates.
All achievements would be basic, second class, first class, oak leaf.

Rifleman: 10 kills with rifle in one game
Rifleman second class: 15
Rifleman first class: 20
Rifleman first class with oak leaves (1 oak leaf per 20 kills per game as rifleman)
Tankman: same stats
Skirmisher: sniper kills
Melee: stabs and rifle butt kills
Artilleryman: arty kills

Remove all bots from data capture. They don't count.

Not sure how to remove two friends firing up a server and generating the top most achievements. If there is a minimum player capture, perhaps 8 to a side?

Smoking barrel - Kill 10 enemies with an mg within 10 seconds.

But generally i believe L4D is getting some active stats so if thats possible i would prefer that most.

Average Captures per map (in a percentage of total captures that were made by your team).
Average Support points/Minute
Average Winning percentage.
Side of preference: (Displays Axis or Allied with the percentage they are played behind it).
Attack or Defensive: (Displays what the player plays more so if he plays more on the attacking or defending team of the map with a percentage behind it)
accuracy percentage total per weapon (from hip and from iron sight)
Kills per minute per weapon and Kill/Death ratio per weapon.

Most played map for the user
Second most played map for the user
Third most played map for the user

Most used class
Most used weapon

Total playing time.
Average playing time per day/week.

Just some things that can actually tell you something about yourself so you can use the stats to improve upon yourself. Or where you can see that you're pretty good at and what you need to improve. Basically a personal training tool.

Kat Killer: Destroy a total of 150 tigers, and 200 panthers, with the PTRD. Not limited to a certain ammount of time or map.

Quigly Down Under: Kill a total 40 infantrymen at a range of 400m or more with the PTRD.

Bullet Proof: Survive 3 or more gunshot wounds.

Grenade Proof: Survive 2 or more grenades.

Wheres Waldo: Kill an enemy that hasn't died in 20 minutes since the round started.

Lost Lou: Die in a minefield a total 10 times with the map screen up.

RO Fanatic: Kill at least 10 enemies each with all of the weapons in the original game.

Admiral Ackbar-In the custom map SPARTAAAA, fall into the hole and survive

Allah Akbar-kill at least 5 enemies with a satchel while commiting suicide

hax0r-get at least 10 kills with a bolt action rifle/sniper in a round without using ironsights/scope even once

fanboy-play only RO, no other steam game, for a span of 3 months

CAPZONE!!!11-on the attacking team, rack up a kd ratio of at least 7-1 without going into the capzone

SMOKE!-as a SL, do not use smoke for a round

Drive-By-using a clowncar, stand on top, have someone ride you by a tank, and use a satchel to kill the tank

Leaning Tower of Pisa-achieve a "tower" of at least 5 soldiers, with at least 1 enemy in it

~~~~~-play as a russian for 20 consecutive hours

ROPlayer-Achieve a negative score



as well as the typical rank structure things

-(1)recruit(everyone starts off as one once achievments come out)
-(2)private:10 caps, 10 defends, 5 MG refills
-(3)private first class (all cumilative)50 caps, 25 defends, 15 MG refills(notice how kills dont count)
-(4)whatever is after PFC-150 caps, 100 defends, 75 MG refills
-5:500 caps, 350 defends, 250 MG refills
-6:1500 caps, 1000 defends, 750 MG refills, at least 1000 kills and at least a 1:1 kd ratio
etc etc all the way to general

just a general concept, i realize the # might seem like a lot in hindsight, but basically stick by that. or how about having seperate ranks for russians and germans? so you could be a private for the russians while being a general on the germans


also, some map-specific ones

medal for winning konigsplatz as german 100x
"""""""""""""""""""""""leningrad as russian 100x
etc etc. but these medals should only be for maps that were highly critical in the war, like say, stalingrad
