3D & Animation Exporting to 3ds Max

I'd like to export SM's to 3DS MAX 9 using the .obj file type but unfortunately my version of MAX does not like .obj. How do you peoples export to 3DS Max 9? I've tried using the Infinity program, but it crashed my pc.

Erm, that shouldn't happen (your crack must suck )

Try Blender you can get it free and it is small but it probably will be annoying to get used to it.

... 3ds to the SDK you must use a ASE format.

3ds use a specifical .obj format
.obj format from other soft need to be imported/converted for 3ds with another program...

blender -> 3ds
Maya -> 3ds
...

Or I think you can find a pluggin's for add in.

no use starting a new thread. I read somewhere how to fix the black faces when something is exported to 3DS Max, anyone remember how to fix the faces of the object that may have turned black once imported into the program, I can't seem to find the link?

to fix black faces, you need to select the face/Polygons and then look down the modifier list and hit Flip normals or just flip.

Black faces in 3ds max turn out to be invisible (see through) in the sdk or game. This is because the Normals are facing the inside of the mesh not outside.
