[Game] Trackmania Forever (free!)

So some of you may or maynot be familiar with the trackmania franchise so let me give you some back story.


Trackmania is a long running arcade racing game (think hot wheels in a game) with crazy jumps, stunts and tracks. A few years back they released a free to play version known as trackmania nations which was made for the ESWC and was brilliant!

Well today they have released Trackmania forever which is an updated version of TMN with features seen in trackmania united (a full paid for game).

The game is completely free to download and play and is funded by minor ingame adds (on billboards in the stadium you race in and not invasive tracking crap).

This is the most fun you can have in a racing game, its free and with thousands of custom made maps you will barely ever play the same map twice!

I agree it's a good game.

It's even better if you happen to have a gamepad. E.g. an xbox one, because the steering is pretty sensitive - and it has to be, due to the nature of the game - and that can be a bit of a pain with keyboard controls. If you don't have a gamepad, don't worry, it works pretty well with a keyboard too.

Its good fun actually, at first i was a bit underwhelmed by the tracks supplied with the game, they are all very short and gimicky, but then i stumbled upon the track editor, this is where it shines, it reminds me of the good old classic "Stunts" actually, its very easy to build a good track.

But aye, this is best played with a gamepad, i tried with my G-25 wheel at first.. ohhh boy, that was less a game and more a full upper body workout! so i dusted off my old Dual-action gamepad and gave that a spin instead, much better!

Haha, yeah, the wheels and the racing games. On the one hand they are cool and immersive, on the other hand, driving a rallye season with a wheel is pretty exhausting.

I'm using a xbox gamepad with an adapter and the xbcd drivers. Works like a charm.

If anyone is reading this thread and hasnt yet tried this game.. it's worth it! Played solo for a couple of hours and scored Gold medals on the entire first set of courses. White Flag I believe. EDIT - Scratch that, I'm now 94,113th in ze virld! Vitness my Powah!
In-game name is 'Thriller Knight' without the apostrophes. Couldnt get REZ, bastards .
