Its 7:43 on a Tuesday morning, i have bugger all sheduled for today, i am out of coffee, and i am bored! so ladies and cross dressers, its time for yet another of thouse pointless threads where we swap vids and chat about music.. who would have thought such things could be? what an age we live in!

Ofcourse, a thread like this is no good without a theme, and todays letter is O! for "obscure", or Octopussy, whichever the case may be, but regardless, this is all about showcasing music and bands that you think are good and deserve a listen, but for whatever reason are not playing twice an houer on radio's across the globe, and people might not know they even exist.

So lets get the ball rolling shall we? and first up is a Danish band that is very popular here, but have never had any noteworthy international success (well they are big in Mexico for some reason, dont ask me how that happened though..), they have been pumping out great music since the early 90's, but to this day still have to work their day jobs, as school teachers of all things.

They are "Kashmir", they started out like a rather experimental garage Rock band, their early stuff was often very energetic and at times downright weird (songs like "Vicious passion" for instance, where the protagonist of the song gets his jollies from biting the ears of little dogs, or "Jamie Fame Flame" which is about a big rock start that rapes some chick and then doesen't understand why people suddenly hate him), but they have allways had alot of songs with a more melancholy and brooding sound, and in later years that sound has taken front stage, and alot of their stuff is.. not really party hardy music, but just what the doctor ordered on a dreary grey Tuesday like today.

But enough chit chat, its time for t3h musicz! and here's some stuff a short Youtube search brought to the surface, they are not all official vids though, there's some user created stuff in the mix:

Most of this is fairly recent stuff, with the exception of Stand and Bring back Superman, sadly, i cannot find more of their earlier stuff on the tube, not in any quallity worth watching anyway.

Pretty good, sounds a bit like early Radiohead.

Nimsky's list of overlooked / underrated music:

Spinvis
Dutch artist, quite popular over here. Experimental stuff mostly, but the melody is still there. Very introvert stuff, he isn't the best singer there is, but the music is so sincere. I wish you could understand the lyrics, 'cause they're brilliant.

Aan De Oevers Van De Tijd:

More on the way.

Very good videos Grobut, I really liked the first two animated ones. Also the one with the rollercoaster, mostly because I love single take videos (except for the friggin bearded guy), but also because the brunette's tits keep popping out :D

Btw, I'm all for a thread for posting good music and videos, but whats with the title dude, maybe something more descriptive? :)

Nice too have something not in english as well, Nimsky, the first one is really beautiful. I would post something myself but too lazy atm...

Strange, I posted more videos and text under that video, but it doesn't show up. :/ Must be a bug.

No we see them, Tube links now show up as embedded vids instead of links for some reason.. bit annoying, and if they load a little slow, it may look like nothing's there for you untill they get done loading.

But i think you are right about needing to understand Dutch with this guy, i am definately missing out on something there :(

Descriptive!? me? never! perish the thought! :D

But i had forgotten about the nipple slip in the coaster vid.. better flag it as "NSFW" before someone gets in trouble.

Well I don't know how obscure they are internationally, but I've only heard them mentioned a handful of times around here. They are one of my favorite all time bands. Cinematic Orchestra, very interesting and jazzy, great for lounging.

They have faster songs, try searching for 2 of my favorite, Night of the Iguana, and Ode to the big sea.

Speaking of music just wondering anyone been to any good shows lately? I went to the big day out on Monday and had an awesome time. It was basically a riot when RATM took the stage, everyone was struggling through Bjork waiting for them then when they came on it went crazy. There were people up trees, on roofs, fighting with security.

I'm going to their show in Melbourne tonight as well, absolutely stoked about it :D

Aaaaaaaaaiiiii! Too much Kashmir! NO MORE!

In Soviet Denmark, you can't go through school without someone insisting on playing that stuff 24/7.

Issen't that allways the way though, back when i went to school it was Red Warzawa that was allways blaring out of the ghetto blaster.

Just considder yourself lucky, it could be the latest boy-band instead you know..
