I'm guessing he committed suicide. And because of WHO's media guidelines concerning suicide we might never know the truth about of his death.

1. The WHO can lay down 'guidelines' all it wants. Doesn't mean anyone's going to follow them.

2. If the media decides to report about the story anyway, what exactly could the WHO do about it?

3. The US Centers for Disease Control (et. al.) have their own guidelines - and yes, the WHO did have some input - but it don't say anywhere that you can't release the precise cause of death.

... Although suicides by celebrities will receive prominent coverage, it is important not to let the glamour of the individual obscure any mental health problems or use of drugs.
