Ghosts!

Oh, yeah. I got carried away. Maybe because male masturbation isn't 100%ly my cup of tea, even if it fills one...
In my opinion porn can't quite convey its full flavor if its muted so I propose a change in the setup of the PC, Crusher. You lose a great deal of the porn's artistic value if you constantly disregard its audio cues! The phonal finesse is where the forth-most time is spent during production! Right after choosing the right girls for the job and thinking of a corny pun for the title of the piece. Don't miss out on that!

@Poly:
Would that occurance be race specific then? E.g. if there was a a murder which would be above average on the gruesome-scale - would only humans be "haunted" by that environmental scar or would it affect other animals as well?
Or if there was an eagle killing a bunch of baby foxes: Would a dog be affected by it afterwards if it came to that place or would it just affect other foxes?

The only thing that I can associate with that theory is that a house where someone lived and died (e.g. your grandma) feels emptier than a regular empty house. I explain that with the fact that you know the house with your grandma in it. If either your grandma or the house would be missing, you'd feel an emptiness. As its mostly the grandmas who die and not the houses, the theory of ghosts residing there, emiting a strange vibe/engery seems reasonable, but in my eyes it isn't. It isn't because those houses can be sold rather easily and the new owner hardly ever feels bad about your missing grandma while he lives there so its just a matter of you and your memories of the house and your granny.

I guess something similar would happen if someone murdered a bunch of folks in a house. You go there, knowing that it happened and you think about how he might have thrown one of the victims down the staircase or something, but that's just our imagination running wild.
The exactly same could happen if you knew your wife was f*cked by the postman on your favorite couch. You constantly think of it once you sit down. The couch might even feel strange (assuming its clean...). I wouldn't talk about ghosts haunting something in this case, especially if your wife and the postman are still alive so I wouldn't make ghost responsible for the other occurence either.

Those are difficult questions to answer as paranormal activity is not a hard science by any means. Generally speaking though as I said before, I believe a traumatic event of some sort can influence the surrounding environment and leave energy "residue" behind in the form of manifestations.

Unnatural deaths in my opinion are the type that can result in various types of manifestations such as poltergeists, balls of energy, full form spirits, EVP, etc.

Paranormal activity definitely isn't exclusive to certain races either as it's a worldwide phenomena. As for animals, I've never heard of "animal hauntings" personally, and I believe that since human beings are of a higher order and intelligence, there is more involved in the progression from life to death and whatever happens afterwards.

There is no afterlife, thats just a conscious desire created by the inconscious instinct of survival, in other words, we think we are too important, we don't want to die, so we actually believe that we won't die, life is happier that way, and since there is no way to proove anything, one can believe whatever he wants, we build religions around afterlife to strengthen that belief, notice that every single religion contemplates some sort of afterlife.

I would say that the concept of afterlife is the basis of every religion. It just provide ease to that desire to "survive"

Off-course it does. It wouldnt be a 'religion' if it didnt! I think having some kind of faith is healthy. It gives us morals and a good conscience! Off-course it can be very unhealthy too. But anything in the extreme is unhealthy!

Sex, drugs, food. You name it

Atheism is a belief, too. Saying "there is no God / afterlife" is just as much an assumption as saying "There is a God, and when we die we go to Heaven".

IMO such nihilism isn't healthy, you just completely devalue yourself. Of course, letting yourself get controlled by religion isn't good either. But everybody has at least some idea of what happens after we die. It's human nature to speculate about that kind of stuff.

There was a study some time ago, and it showed that many kids of about 4 years old already believed in the separation of body and mind, without anyone telling them so! The way I see it, our brain has nothing to do with thought and conscience.

You should understand that there's nothing wrong with dreaming about that kind of stuff, as long as you admit your ignorance about the subject (because none of us can know for sure).

If people need religion to know how to behave they must be stupid, my basis is "I don't do anything unnecesary that may get me in trouble or threatens to shorten the length or the cuality of my one and only life", I dont need a bunch of lies to tell me what to do or not.

If you ask me if there is afterlife, I can't answer with any guarantee because there is no way to proove it, but as I see no reason for it to exist, its a very convenient idea, and there is no proof o its existence either, for me is a NO.
