Hi, new to the forum. This may sound like a silly question, but I just want to make sure before I spend any money on it: Does RO actually work on Vista? The specs just say Windows 2000/XP, and I'm running Vista, and I can't find anything anywhere that says whether the mods cover the upgrade.

As long as you have proper up to date drivers for all your devices, RO should run on Vista. Several people around here do it. However the dev team does not have Vista, nor does it test RO on vista (as it doesn't have it to test on).

I have a friend who runs it on vista with no probs at all i think there are several threads on this already though

Yeah, I tried searching for threads on it, and I came up with a load of stuff about Vista, but nothing from anyone who was actually using it. Cheers for the answers, I think I'll get on to Steam...

Built a computer with bits, AMD, Nvidia7600gt, 1.256 go ram and Vista 32bit.
Quite pleased with the general performance.
RO and all my Steam games work with out problems, as well as others that I have tried.
Its all about tweaking and compatible drivers...

Only isue I had was with a USB headset that rebooted my pc when I started RO, probably a driver isue, couldn't find a proper driver for it, but that was months ago
other (conventional) headset fixed that, apart from that it is running without any probs

Works just fine on Vista for me. No problems what so ever.
I experience a Vista related problem every now and then (like Vista failing to find my USB printers after a boot, and it never finds them when I O/C
), but nothing related to RO.

Yep it works fine, only problem i get is steam being crappy and links not working within it.

Blame steam for that and also steam links have to be copied and pasted into a browser (atleast the user posted links in the community section, the shop always runs prefectly
)

Going down with the XP ship and changing only when I have too... actually thought several times of buying a couple extra XP-Pro editions to keep on the shelf.

I am runnin RO on an ASUS laptop with Vista 32 Bit and Nvidia graphic card - no problems with installation an it runs well

Vista stock is better than XP stock (both on first retail release), i have faith in vista although i don't like some of the interface thingies and love others.

Good question. I had some bad experiances with BF2 and trying to play in online games on my system with Vista.
I run RO on Vista. It works great for both solitaire and online play. I've also played online with the armor beasts upgrade and it also works great on my system with Vista.
