No one Knows how to play Danzig.

I play on this server Real Danzig 24/7 every now and again. No matter how much you yell at people on the german side "fall back to command" they keep counterattacking. Few players seem aware of the precious few reinforcements awarded to each side. As a russian it's also hard to persaude the players to NOT use the killing field bridges but instead to run over the boat and hide behind the haven that is a 10ft wall. It's so easy to cap the bridgeheads if you use that wall, the germans find it difficult to nade and there are only two entrances to it.

Is it because it's a map that many of the "noobs" of Ro play? Or have i just played this map for too long and am not giving players who play a variety of maps a chance?

Hard to nade the boats? Since when? Yeah you may have to sacrifice yourslef but 3 for 1 is always a fair trade. Not to mention you can just run down onto the boat after you clear that area (as a German) and then prone right under the ledge they all jump off to get to the boat. Then just wait until they make it to the capzones, and shoot them. Nine times out of ten they won't know where they were shot from :D

Behind that wall isnt exactly safe. Its real easy to underhand toss a nade over that wall and get a few easy kills with very little risk to the german tossing the nade. Not to mention the half dozen windows that the germans can look out to camp everyone that exits that door to the boat. But some well placed smoke on the east side to block off the veiw from the spots most germans camp and the east bridge is a pretty safe bet. Just takes a little team work.

But i do agree about the counter attack. Germans should stay in the cap zones and russians should be trying to take those cap zones at all times. But alot of germans like the easy kills of spawn camping and spawn exit camping. Nothin like being a russian that spawns on the boat and gets shot and killed instantly by someone looking out that third floor window.

Staying huddled together behind the wall in order to cap is a valid tactic, but it takes only one good german player to vaporize half your team with 2 nades.

Spreading the attack and arriving from all 3 exits is good n' valid too.

Dont yell at ppl just because you have a rigid one way of winning this map.

The only invalid, dumb tactic I see is when 5-6 players are camping the second floor. Only the sniper should be there, + one rifleman/MG at the most.

Actually 5-6 guys in that west building can be very helpful. All they need to do is cover themselves from nades (because all it takes is one) and cover the entrance to it. This can be good because the front part of that building is still in the capzone so they are helping to prevent caps.

Youre talking Germans, Im Russians, and Im talking bout the building just across from "your" west building, close to spawn.

how about this - out of 32 people your the only one noobish enough to care about winning a map on a public server. maybe people save the camping and playing like gaylords for the clan matches.

and here is the problem with far too many people on public servers. They are far too concerned with their own score to try to work as a team and actually win.

I have to mention that there's a lot of TKing when some fool decides to smoke those bridges...

Oh, and it's best if you start on another server, not Danzig 24/7 because you only get rifle or something else, and if you suck with rifle, the fun is over. Danzig is a nice map, especially when the Allies constantly push and get past the bridges.

The fact is to win this map no matter what team your on you need team work. I think that may be one reason why its so popular. Smoke on the bridges is worthless for the russians simply because you need to cross the bridges. the second you leave the smoke you get mowed down. The trick to using the smoke effectivly is to blind the other team not your own. So if the russians throw smoke against the far east building right in front so that it blocks both the door and the second floor window to protect the russians crossing both the bridge and the boat to a extent that will help a lot. Then throw the second smoke over near the center east building to block any germans shooting out the door/windows of that and any that are crouched behind the boxes by that truck in the road then all you need to worry about are the germans that may be right behind the east wall and on the stairs going down into the basement in east. easy to do with a few well placed granades. then all it takes is a charge across into the east cap zone.

After that if the squad leader keeps throwing the smoke in the same spot it is fairly easy to defend east by tossing nades into the smoked buildings. All while the russians run through the east cap zone into the west easy to sneak up behind the germans shooting out the windows of the west building along with a few granades thrown along the wall in west to clear any germans that may be hidden around there and you pretty much have west. But it takes teamwork. And it takes russians smart enough to know not to leave the cap zone they control if it means germans will start to recap it.

If all the russians rush to command right after taking west then its very easy to control before the germans set up a good defense.

After that its just all about russians being able to push harder then the germans are willing to defend. simple teamwork. whatever team works better together wins. Sadly at least half the russian team insists on camping in dumb places where they cant even effectivly kill germans in the cap zones. While most of the spots that the germans like to camp they can defend the cap zones.
