I must say...

STG-44.

It has the stopping power of a good rifle, has semi-auto and full-auto, and can be used as a bolt-action rifle or as an SMG.

Its versatility amazes me.

STG44, hands down. It's the only weapon I ever run outta ammo with besides the occassional sniper rifle. I make liberal use of the auto/semi switch allowing me to snipe and assault.

I typically do the best with an StG44 in my hands, simpiy due to its versitility. I'm also pretty good with the SVT-40, because the sights are more open and provide a petter picture IMO than the Gew43

The Stg44 is by far and away the most versatile weapon in the game. Select fire for rifle-like performance at medium to medium-long range and full auto hipshooting for room clearing. Go prone and you have controllability similar to an lmg.

But if the 44 is not available then I go either bolt action or mg. The SMGs just don't do enough damage at even moderate ranges. The semi-auto rifles feel inaccurate and the recoil cancels out any advantage from the higher rate of fire.

The Nagant seems ever so slightly better/accurate than the k98k, even though the sights on the 98 are superior. DP28 is way better than either German mg, because of more control, less overheating, and faster reloading. Sight picture on the 28 is worse, but you just get used to it.

The SVT Avto is the best in my opinion. Great for mid/far range and even pretty good for close quarters combat. it also helps to have a huge monitor for the far shots.
