One of the other parts in the series shows some Hitler youth of 16 years old. Doubt he lived through the war. Sad...what a waste.

Despite being on the strategic retreat, local counteroffensives were often made. The Germans succeeded in taking back lost towns up until the end of the war with the 12th Army linking up with the 9th.

I am pretty sure that FlashPanHunter said in his documentation for this map that it wasn't based on the real town of Gorlitz. The atmosphere in his map reminds me more of Frankfurt on Oder or Kustrin.

well, I expect my view of the "good" and the "bad" on the eastern front is a bit different than yours. Patton had the right idea towards the end of the war, IMO.

The architecture is based on the some of the references I found for Gorlitz, but that town in particular is pretty difficult because it has such a large variety of styles. What is in the map only really captures one of those styles, but it is based in some reality regarding what was there at the time.
